Fun Day Out

We had a fun morning out on a "special picnic," as Jack likes to call them! We met the playgroup at a place called Rocky Branch Railroad and Old West Town. We rode on a train and played in play area but on the weekends they have shootouts and put on a show. It was pretty cool and the kids really liked it.

On Ethan news, we got him officially set up for Speech Therapy. That will start the end of September, once we're back from our two week trip to England!!!!

And for those of you who have been asking (or were just wondering) about the house situation, this is what has transpired over the past few days:

We actually decided that we like a different house, which is two lots down from the one I previously mentioned. Here's the link: http://www.jeremyrutenberg.com/psm/asp/detail.asp?l=2&p=238&o=13

Anyway, we made the offer yesterday and it was a crazy lowball offer. We asked for them to remove a wall to open up the master suite "office" to make it into a loft, for them to pay $12,000 in closing costs and then offered $400,000.

They countered with making the changes to the house, $5,000 in closing costs and $500,000.

Our real estate agent told them that since we didn't need to move and $400,000 was what we wanted to pay for a house that we would have to think about their counter and that we aren't in any hurry. They currently have 14 houses available in that community and that particular house has been on the market since 2007 so if they want to sell they may change their minds in a month or so.

Our agent is bringing two other couples to them this week and tomorrow night might tell them that we'll put $100,000 down in ernest money to show we're serious. But we really don't want to pay more than $425,000 maybe $450,000 at the most for a house. Not when we're currently in a house that's paid for with no other debt. Of course, now that we've been up there looking at the houses so much we REALLY want to move there. Plus, the builder told us the street is full of little boys - from age 3 up! It's an ideal house and location for us, so hopefully the builder will want to negotiate more. He told us he's never negotiated a price on a house before but we know times are much different since he last sold a house. And as our agents broker told her, money talks.

So that's where we stand. I'll keep you posted if anything changes.

I love seeing pictures of the kids' activities on the same day... I don't feel so far away. Look at Jack sliding down that slide- what a difference 6 months makes! And look at the faces of those 2 boys flying the airplane! Does Ethan want out of his stroller or does he just sprawl!? Thanks so much for sharing so quickly - Nana

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
