Backyard Addition

Ever since we planted our fruit trees and bushes we've been anxious to have a better way to access them than just climbing up the hill, so this week we had our original stone/landscaping company come back and add two additional sets of steps. We were so excited to see this truck show up!  Here's the first set of steps.  A view of the first set from the bottom of the yard.  We added a little stepping path from the patio over to the steps and the second tier of the hill where the trees are that we need access to.  The boys are loving jumping along the path.  Here is the second set of steps going in.  This is the stepping path with the river rock all around it to give it more definition.  Another view.  And another.  Here is the completed second set of steps.  Here is the original set of steps on the side of the house leading up to the second set of steps up to the tier of fruit trees.  We we now be able to add a plum tree up there,

School Success

These photos are from a trip to the zoo we took awhile back.  The boys loved the petting zoo - especially Ethan.  I just wanted to take a minute to express my gratitude for the special need preschool that is offered to Ethan and how far he has come since starting at age three.  This year started out a bit rocky but I attribute it to his starting at a new school with a new teacher and new therapists after a year and a half of the same ones.  But since he's settled in, he's improved greatly.  Just yesterday we had the best conversation.  I got him off the bus and asked if he had a good day and he answered yes, as he always does.  Then I asked him what did you do today and he responded with puppet.  I didn't think anything of it until I opened up his backpack and pulled out puppets that he had made.  My smile was enormous because it was truly one of the only times that he gave me an appropriate response to a question.  Usually everything is yes or no.  His

My Photo Bombs

Thursday, March 21st was World Down Syndrome Day so I sent Ethan to school in this shirt (and I wore one myself) that I had made based on a photo of one I saw from England.  I just love it.  My cool dude!  After the zombies or the bad guys - I can't keep track of who he is always attacking and fighting.  Just some random photos of Wyatt, since he's always home with me.  He is ALL boy.  All the time!  This is Wyatt on his bed with socks on his feet, as pot holders, feeding his animals.  Wyatt is definitely my photo bomber - every time I try to take a photo of something to share, he always wants to be in the photo.  But he's so cute, it's hard to be mad at him - or to resist him!!  I've slowly been hanging up all the things I've been collecting over the years.  I added some pictures to these frames I've had since our old Douglasville home.  I finally just did it and got them up on the wall in the hallway from the formal

Spring Planting

We were teased this past weekend with some beautiful spring weather - sunny and mid 70s - but it only lasted the weekend, and since then we've suffered through a tornado warning (with lost power for 3 hours) and freezing temps with the chance of snow/freezing rain.  Ugh!  The calendar says spring but the weather says not so fast.  Hoping it warms up before Spring Break in two weeks and a visit from Grandma.  Anyway, we took full advantage of the nice weather to do lost more planting.  We started with a bunch of bulbs here to the left of the main set of steps up to the patio.  You can't see it in this photo, but down the path by all the aster plants (that Jason has since trimmed back) all our tulips and other spring bulbs are starting to pop up.  I can't wait for all the flowers to start blooming here in the next couple of weeks!!  Here in front of this low wall we planted some Spanish Heather.  The bees love it and it's so pretty that we're going to go b

Cub Scout Campout

We had the perfect weather last weekend (upper 70s and sunny) and we made good use of it with the Cub Scout Campout.  Jack and Jason spent the night but the little ones and I joined them during the day.  While at home, Wyatt had fun playing with Jack's tae-kwan-do pads.  He was so quiet that I had to go in search of him.  And this is what I found.  Too cute!  Showing off his hi-ya moves!!  One of the cub scout events was making a rocket and then launching them. This is Jack's rocket - covered in Angry Birds.  The little ones high-tailed it to the tent.  They couldn't stay out of it.  Guess that means it's time to take all the boys camping.  Waiting to launch the rocket.  Ethan amused himself with my phone.  Here's Jack getting ready to launch.  5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ... blastoff.  Wyatt had so much fun following Jack around.  A rare mommy photo - I love snuggling with these boys of mine.  We had a lot of dow
