Whew - what a crazy past few days!

Wow, I'm still coming down off my high from the VP announcement yesterday. I don't want to turn this into a political debate, but I'm so excited about the prospect of a possible female VP who happens to have a baby with Down syndrome! Just knowing that she could bring some much needed change to Washington, making like a little bit easier for Ethan and so many others like him makes me so happy! Plus, anyone who is willing to challenge their own party for what they believe is right is OK by me. Anyway you look at it, this year's election is historic. I can't wait for the debates!!

We had a lovely visit on Thursday with my cousin (3 or 4 times removed - I can never get it straight!) and her new son, Alex, who is 11 months. He is so sweet and the boys loved playing together. They used to live here in Atlanta but moved to Boston just before we moved down (and are now moving to California). Luckily, she comes down often to visit all her friends so we have gotten quite close. I'll miss her when she moves but hopefully they will still come back to visit now and then.
Christmas came early for us on Friday. I'm hosting a Fisher Price House Party (www.houseparty.com) and all the goodies came yesterday. We got them all put together and can't keep Jack away from them. Even Ethan has gotten into playing with them. I'm hoping these will help stimulate him and encourage him to start sitting independently to play with all these goodies - maybe even crawl soon.

With just one week left to go before we head off to England for two weeks (Jason and I are beyond excited about this trip) I've got lots to do with getting all our cool weather clothes out and packed, getting the house clean, and all those last minute items bought (toys and art supplies to fill Jack's backpack)! And now with Hurricane Gustov barreling down on Louisiana, Jason's National Guard unit is on call for a possible call up to help out (never fails). We're hoping it hits a little bit more to the west.

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Busy week

It's been a busy week with little things here and there, which is getting me ready for the busy summer ahead of us with gymnastics, swimming and all Ethan's therapies. Whew, I need a break from just thinking about it. We did have a nice walk down to our community playground this afternoon. Ethan couldn't stop laughing on the swings and the slide (he couldn't get enough of the slide) and Jack made a little friend! Great afternoon. Speaking of therapies, Ethan starts his occupational therapy next week and I'm so excited. We got the therapy notes back from his evaluation and, while I'm not positive on how I'm reading it, the scores say from poor to very poor. We have been very lucky that Ethan hasn't had any medical issues and so far he seems to be doing well with responding to his therapies, so I really want to make sure he has the best of everything. Today has just made me a little blue thinking about Ethan not being 100% of what other kids are and ...

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back. ...
