Visit to the Circus

Jack has loved wearing his new baseball helmet ever since he got it this past weekend. And he's adamant about helping me with projects, so I couldn't help but get photos of him accomplishing both things! On Wednesday we met some of our playgroup friends and went to the Big Apple Circus. Jack had a blast! We were about four rows up from ringside so we had great seats - although it's a small enough event that no matter where you sit you've got a good view. It was a bit too loud for Ethan (and me too) so he spent almost the entire time with his arms wrapped around my neck! Trying to get Jack to smile! If you ask Jack what his favorite part of the circus was he'll tell you the port-a-potties. We had to make at least four trips! After that he'll say the lemonade and popcorn. But he really seemed to enjoy it all. Tonight the boys were playing around and I couldn't keep Ethan off of Jack. It was so much fun to see these two interact. Every night Jack whispe

Sorry I haven't posted for so long

It's been a long couple of weeks and I'm sorry that I haven't posted in so long. I was hoping to share good news with everyone, but as most of you know, I suffered a miscarriage last week. I had gone to the doctor's a week and a half ago and saw a heartbeat, but was told the baby was measuring 2 weeks later than I thought. That was my first sign, but with the heartbeat I was optimistic. However, the next day things changed, so back to the doctor's I went. I was told that the baby had grown in the two days and they could still detect a slight heartbeat (though I couldn't see it) so we were optimistic. I was sent home and put on strict bedrest (BORING) for the weekend and given some medicine. We were feeling good about things until Sunday night. While we're disappointed we've been reassured that we should be able to add to the family in the near future (fingers crossed). Anyway, due to all that, not much has been happening around here lately. Our

The Start of Another Busy Week

We had another busy weekend with our final playgroup birthday party. The boys all had fun and we had to drag Jack out of the play area at the bowling alley. With Jason only home for a couple days, the weekends go by way too fast. Luckily he'll be home for a four day weekend this coming weekend!! These are just some candid photos of the boys playing. Jack found Daddy's military boots and enjoyed walking around the house in them. They really matched his pj's and he looked like he should be in the mountains of Alaska! Jack loves falling onto Daddy's bag of laundry (which Jason conveniently leaves in the middle of the floor). The weather has been about 70 degrees for the past two days so we've been having fun outside (finally). T-ball starts this Friday for Jack so he's been getting some last minute practice in. He actually hit one over the fence on Sunday. He was so excited - he's been trying to do it again ever since.

Ethan Update

We had a couple of doctor's visits this week for Ethan and everything is looking good. We went on Thursday for his yearly Down syndrome clinic check-up and participated in a study. He was in the 80% for cognitive but a bit lower for the fine motor skills, so our doctor wants to get occupational therapy in here as soon as possible. It could have been because he was tired or because he was sick (bit of a cold) but nevertheless, it's something we knew was coming and that we want. It's amazing how well he does with all the help from the therapies. We often forget he even has Down's. The doctor said he looked great and was doing very well overall, so we're happy!! Today was just a well check and he is 18.9 pounds and 27 inches. Right now he's sitting at about the 50th percentile for Down's boys. A lot can change over time, but he'll probably be a fairly short boy (to keep his mommy company). Poor thing had to get a shot at the doctors and then we had

What a Busy Week!

This past week has just flown by and I'm back to being terrible about keeping this blog up to date. Apologies from the mom of two busy little ones... We dropped Grannie Annie off last Tuesday morning and Jack has been asking to go visit from the minute she left the car. So I guess a trip to Phoenix is in our near future! Not a bad thing. Thursday we celebrated Ethan's birthday again, this time with the playgroup. We had a lot of fun, but there were a LOT of kids in this little living room of ours. But everyone had fun and Ethan REALLY enjoyed more birthday cake!! I think a tornado hit the room. We did NOT have fun picking this up! These two boys really LOVE each other... Saturday we had yet another birthday party to attend but this time it was at a bowling alley and Jack got to bowl his first game. He really seemed to enjoy it and got upset when Jason or I would help him or even touch the ball. A quick side note to mention that Jack has given up sucking his thumb!! A fe
