Playing In The Dirt

Ever since we had the additional steps put in, Jason and I have been planting like crazy, trying to get our backyard full of color and to help hold the hillside together when it rains!! Jack used to be my big helper but he seems to have passed the torch to his younger brother.  Wyatt loves to be outside and "help" us.  Of course, I'm sure that will change, too, when he gets a bit older and has lots of friends to play with.  These photos are not in any order (not sure why they download so randomly but it's a pain to drag and move them, as they don't always go where I want them too). At the bottom of the terrace, between the two new sets of steps, we put in a boarder of day lilies and a little blue plant that has the same sort of leaf.  I can't wait for it to get bigger and fuller over the years!!  This is our row of tulips from earlier this spring.  We have a few more coming up still but most are dying off.  It was a beautiful boarder.

All About The Bee's

We have a new beekeeper in the family! Jason got some new bees last week and one set is for Jack to take care of.  He's slowly warming up to the idea, but it's nice for him to be able to help out and learn the in's and out's of beekeeping with Daddy!  Here are the two new hives.  Jack and Daddy getting into their bee suits.  The new bees!  Jack was really nervous at first but he warmed up.  Transfering the bees.  It's hard to see but Jack is holding up the queen bee in her transfer box.  Placing the queen inside.  Now all the worker bees can follow her into their new hive.  Ethan came out to see what all the excitement was about!! Can't wait for all the honey!!

Happy Birthday Jason

I have such talented friends!!  I love this banner that I had made that I can now put out for each family member's birthday to make the day extra special.  My birthday treat for Jason - apple pie!!  We had a nice birthday celebration with Jason.  We started off with an afternoon of bowling with the boys, followed by a crawfish boil at one of our favorite restaurants, Henry's, then back home to sing Happy Birthday and enjoy some pie.  Wyatt couldn't wait to sing and Ethan wanted to help blow out the candle.  Jack had a friend over for a sleepover and he just wanted to play!!  The little ones wanted to help with the candle. Just a couple week's then we get to do it all over again for Wyatt.

Spring Break Fun

We are wrapping up the last day of our Spring Break and counting down the seven weeks until Summer Vacation!  We enjoyed our week at home playing with Grandma Christy!  Now that our weather seems to finally be staying in Spring (yay for sunny, warm days) the lizards are out and about and the boys are loving chasing and catching them!  Look at that smile!  We celebrated the warm weather and having Grandma in town with a backyard fire and roasting of s'mores - yummy!  Jack and Wyatt had fun roasting the marshmallows.  The boys LOVED having Grandma in town.  While we did see her last summer when we traveled to Seattle, it had been about a year and a half since she'd been out to visit us.  Ethan spent almost all week playing with the tablet, going from game to movie to game - and loving being able to do it all by himself.  We did spend some time at the park, as well as a fun afternoon bowling and playing with friends at an indoor play center, but we
