Lacrosse Opener

Jack had his first lacrosse game this morning (in the rain - it felt like Seattle) and even though we got creamed (12 to 1) the boys did fairly well, especially towards the end, for playing against a team that was older and had been playing longer.  We have mostly younger, newer players.  Jack went into the game with a great "we're going to win" attitude and even though they didn't he was smiling from ear to ear at the end because he had so much fun.  He played both defender and attacker.  While he still has a lot to work on he did a great job of staying on his man as a defender (needs to work on keeping his eye on both the man and the ball) and he got the ball a couple times as an attacker.  He actually made a goal once but because in this level we have a rule of the ball needing to be passed twice before you can make a goal, it didn't count (he thought the passing on the other side of the midfield counted). Jack's Minecraft Birthday

Happy 8th Birthday to our sweet Jack - I can't believe where the time has gone.  I don't have to tell you anything about him because if you know him you'll know the awesome young man he is and has basically always been.  As for his birthday party, well, unless you know the game Minecraft, this probably won't make much sense to you. But it was the requested theme and since EVERYONE plays it, all the kids loved it. This is the "creeper" juice.  The take home treats were coal -- popcorn balls that I tried to cover in a black sanding sugar.  Here is the tablescape filled with all the treats I could get ideas on, thanks to Pintrest!!  The cupcakes with grass frosting and creeper faces.  The kids went crazy over these!!  Red Vine TNT...  Lots of sugar was our theme...gold Rolo's.  Cookies...  And finally something healthy - watermelon!  These are Sour Patch grapes - basically just green grapes rolled in lime Jello po

Catching Up

Jason has been traveling almost non-stop since the end of July that I feel like I've barely been able to keep it together with getting kids to and from activities.  And of course my blog posts fall, so I apologize and will treat you to several posts as my penance.  Deer hunting season with bow's and & arrows just kicked off so a few weeks ago Jason and Jack were out back practicing in preparation.  And of course, Wyatt wanting to do everything that Jack does, wanted a try with Jack's bow and arrow.  He did pretty well with Daddy's help!  High five's.  This is how you know you live in a house with boys - even the nice furniture gets overridden with toys!  Wyatt did the exact same thing with my beverage cart. But I secretly like it.  I have always wanted a full length mirror for our bedroom so for my birthday Jason got me one, which I just love leaned up against the wall leading to the bathroom.  Of course, it's not the most convenient
