Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...

I can't believe it went from this...
To this!

I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.

Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.

One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!

It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.

Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several.  I bought a hanging scarf organizer but I have so many that it makes it hard to find the one I want and getting it in and out of the holes has proven a bit tricky. Then one day I got an email from Hobby Lobby (one of the best stores ever) talking about organizing and showed a picture of a hanging rack with scarves on it.  Brilliant! So off I went in search of the perfect one.

 And I love it!

A closer look at the shelf.

I decided to hang the scarves I wear the most here and leave the other one on the hanging organizer on the closet rack. The other issue I had was those long shoulder crossbody bags. I had them on a hanger next to the scarves but it looked a bit messy (and truth be told, I actually forgot I had one hanging there when I was desperately searching for it last Fall for a cruise I took). So again I took matters into my own hands and took two Command Hooks and stuck them to the wall to hang the bags where I can see them.

Then down below the shelf I have all my big bags tucked into a big tote. My handbags are all lined up on one of my shelves directly across the closet from these.

A side view of it all.

The I lined up all my perfumes on top of the scarf shelf and off the island in the middle of the closet.

 Another view.

Then I rearranged my clothes a bit, bought a boot rack for my new boots (I've recently fallen back in love with tall boots!!) and cleaned up the floor a bit. I would REALLY love a little ottoman seat in here but I don't think my husband would really go for it.

My last change was the shelf above the rack. The roof slants down which makes this really wasted space. I had just tossed a few things up there but it looked horrible. I had the idea that maybe I could put some small baskets up there and then just toss stuff into the baskets but, again, with the slant in the roof, there wasn't even enough space for that.  So then I got the brilliant idea to put all the picture frames I had laying around the house in odd places up there. I added in a candle and a few nick nacks and now I love it!

So that is my big closet transformation. Well, my side anyway!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
