Ethan's Eye Appointment

We had Ethan's first eye appointment this morning to look at his lazy eye. And, as usual, he is proving to be amazing! The doctor gave us some really great news. He said Ethan appears to have a bit of farsightedness but that it's fairly common for this age and he sees no need for glasses.

Both of his eyes are healthy on top and bottom and that the lazy / cross-eye is fairly typical for Down's babies. At this point, he sees nothing that needs to be dealt with, as it's not a constant issue and he seems to correct himself pretty quickly.

We'll go back at the beginning of October to have his eyes looked at again, unless we see any dramatic changes between now and then. But the doctor seems to think he'll be just fine and it may even be something he grows out of. Jason and I are relieved that there is one more typical Down's issue that we don't have to worry about as of yet!

We're looking forward to a fun filled weekend that hopefully included some pool time (weather permitting) and some shopping (tax free weekend here in Georgia) to get a backpack and activities to fill it for Jack to take on the airplane for our many travels coming up at the end of the summer.

I received a wonderful compliment the other day as I was leaving Target. A woman shopper stopped us and told me that out of all the children she saw at the store that day, Jack was the best behaved. It made me very proud of what a great little boy he is becoming and I can't wait for you all to see him soon. It still amazes me that he will be 3 in September. How time flies!

I remember Jack running all over the store and playing in the clothes, with Nana behind him watching that he didn't harm himself or anyone else! I was kinda concerned about how he would do with just you and Ethan, but sounds like he understands his limits pretty well! Good for you Jack - Nana

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
