It's been a busy week with little things here and there, which is getting me ready for the busy summer ahead of us with gymnastics, swimming and all Ethan's therapies. Whew, I need a break from just thinking about it. We did have a nice walk down to our community playground this afternoon. Ethan couldn't stop laughing on the swings and the slide (he couldn't get enough of the slide) and Jack made a little friend! Great afternoon.
Speaking of therapies, Ethan starts his occupational therapy next week and I'm so excited. We got the therapy notes back from his evaluation and, while I'm not positive on how I'm reading it, the scores say from poor to very poor. We have been very lucky that Ethan hasn't had any medical issues and so far he seems to be doing well with responding to his therapies, so I really want to make sure he has the best of everything.Today has just made me a little blue thinking about Ethan not being 100% of what other kids are and I'm finding myself doing the "if only" thing. I don't wallow too often, but every now I wonder how life would be if Ethan didn't have to go through all this. But then I think of all the upsides, all the wonderful people we've met. I just got the name and number of a new family up by our new house that have a Down's baby Ethan's age and an older child Jack's age. I'm really excited to meet them!
And another great thing is that I'm starting to help other families with their applications for the Deeming Waivers (when you make too much money and get denied by Social Security). It's a very time consuming, detailed process that we paid someone to help us with. I'm happy to be able to help wherever I can and who knows where this might lead. My focus on work after kids has shifted quite a bit.Anyway, not many photos tonight, mostly I just wanted to let out a little of how I have been feeling. It helps to put it into words.
