Spring Planting

We were teased this past weekend with some beautiful spring weather - sunny and mid 70s - but it only lasted the weekend, and since then we've suffered through a tornado warning (with lost power for 3 hours) and freezing temps with the chance of snow/freezing rain.  Ugh!  The calendar says spring but the weather says not so fast.  Hoping it warms up before Spring Break in two weeks and a visit from Grandma.
Anyway, we took full advantage of the nice weather to do lost more planting.  We started with a bunch of bulbs here to the left of the main set of steps up to the patio.  You can't see it in this photo, but down the path by all the aster plants (that Jason has since trimmed back) all our tulips and other spring bulbs are starting to pop up.  I can't wait for all the flowers to start blooming here in the next couple of weeks!!
Here in front of this low wall we planted some Spanish Heather.  The bees love it and it's so pretty that we're going to go back and get some more to plant in front of these.
Here is my lavender (not looking so well but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they hold on) and my rosemary.
We are getting more steps put in to the left of this wall and then further down this path to take us up to our fruit trees and bushes.  They came out and walked us through their plan it will look fantastic and complete the look of the backyard.  I can't wait!!
Here along the edge of the patio we planted a boarder of creeping phlox.  They only get about 2" high but it should fill in and look great.  We also planted more bulbs behind the sitting wall to the right of this photo (we are really into the bulbs this year - ha ha!).
I've since planted these flowers but wanted to snap a picture before.  I love my plant stand and being able to change out the flowers based on the season.
I love the Gerber Daisies and have planted them by the front steps before but this year I decided to try them in a pot.  Once the Day Lilies are out I'll move this pot and plant more of those here.
I have such talented friends - my neighbor, Betsy, made this burlap welcome flag for me and I just love it.
Happy Spring (even if the weather isn't cooperating) y'all.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
