Backyard Addition

Ever since we planted our fruit trees and bushes we've been anxious to have a better way to access them than just climbing up the hill, so this week we had our original stone/landscaping company come back and add two additional sets of steps.
We were so excited to see this truck show up!
Here's the first set of steps.
A view of the first set from the bottom of the yard.
We added a little stepping path from the patio over to the steps and the second tier of the hill where the trees are that we need access to.
The boys are loving jumping along the path.

Here is the second set of steps going in.
This is the stepping path with the river rock all around it to give it more definition.
 Another view.
 And another.
Here is the completed second set of steps.
Here is the original set of steps on the side of the house leading up to the second set of steps up to the tier of fruit trees.  We we now be able to add a plum tree up there, as well as a second one in the area to the left of this photo.
A view looking from the top of the patio looking down the yard.
Just a quick view of the plants we put in last weekend down at the very bottom of the yard where the river rockbed ends.
I can't wait to get in and plant some more flowers now that the steps are in.  We plan to put a row of lavender between the two new sets of steps up top and a row of day lilies along the bottom as well as much more over time.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Last Days of Summer Vacation

I'm back...it's been a crazy past few weeks but then what's new. We were dealing with tummy issues for the boys last week and after spending each cleaning up the messes all I could bring myself to do at night was lay on the couch! On top of that, I've been working out 3 days a week for an hour and a half at a time and that has been wearing me out. Oh, and I've started a new business selling Willow House so my free time has been limited. But I've been enjoying it and a happy mama makes for a happy family! Now we're enjoying our last day of summer vacation before Jack starts Pre-K tomorrow, which is the equivalent to what kindergarten was for me back in the day. Jack is excited to get back to school and see his friends and learn "big kid stuff," and I'm excited to get our routine started for the school year. Plus Daddy should be home on Thursday and that will help tremendously! I can't believe he's been gone almost two years. It wi...

My Week

Jason left last Saturday (the 4th) for his two week Army Annual Training and we sent him off with a nighttime treat before he left.  I love this photo of my boys, as they all look so happy and the small ones look so grown up - especially Ethan.  We couldn't pry that cup of frozen yogurt away from him!!  And, as usual, when Jason leaves all hell breaks loose.  Tuesday night we were all getting ready for bed and I was getting Ethan and Wyatt out of the bathtub when Wyatt slipped and banged his chin on the edge.  Normally Wyatt gets out first but this time I got Ethan and that just drove him crazy.  He was jumping up and down and as soon as I told him to stop he slipped.  I thought he had just cut his lip or his gums as I only saw blood but then he titled his head up and I saw his chin - too much of the inside of the chin.  I got him dried off, and kept a washcloth to his chin but knew I needed to get him to the ER.  But the last th...
