Good News / Bad News

As most of you know, Jason has been suffering with a shoulder injury and today he was told that they suggest he waits another month before starting the course to give himself more time to heal. So, that's ANOTHER month away from us...but the somewhat good news is that it seems like his unit has had their deployment moved up to February of 2011 instead of 2012. That means that Jason would just join them when he is done training in October or November of 2011, which is less time deployed and closer to be home full time with us!!! But, then again, we're talking about the Army and anything can happen and change at a moments notice.

The other upside is that Jason will have a month with nothing to do up at Bragg and no roommate so the boys and I will travel up there for a couple of weeks in August. It will be fun to be up there with him for a bit and experience the active Army lifestyle. Plus, I'm hoping to check out the furniture stores up there and get some ideas of things to fill up the rest of this house!

Last week, Grandma Christy sent the boys some stuff in the mail and one of the things was a coloring book. Although it was for Jack, Ethan was keeping his eye on it. He wants to do everything that Jack does, so I had Jack give him a crayon and Ethan did his first coloring! Of course it was just basically a line but he did it none-the-less and LOVED it. They spent quite a bit of time on the floor together coloring.

It's great seeing Ethan starting to do all these things that he should be doing. Stuff that has been so long coming. He's pulling up a lot more (which is still not much) but with Ethan, he waits until he can do something perfectly before he does it at all. Our PT says that walking typically comes around age 2, so I know it's coming. I can't wait for it but at the same time, I know life will be even more challenging then!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Busy week

It's been a busy week with little things here and there, which is getting me ready for the busy summer ahead of us with gymnastics, swimming and all Ethan's therapies. Whew, I need a break from just thinking about it. We did have a nice walk down to our community playground this afternoon. Ethan couldn't stop laughing on the swings and the slide (he couldn't get enough of the slide) and Jack made a little friend! Great afternoon. Speaking of therapies, Ethan starts his occupational therapy next week and I'm so excited. We got the therapy notes back from his evaluation and, while I'm not positive on how I'm reading it, the scores say from poor to very poor. We have been very lucky that Ethan hasn't had any medical issues and so far he seems to be doing well with responding to his therapies, so I really want to make sure he has the best of everything. Today has just made me a little blue thinking about Ethan not being 100% of what other kids are and ...

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back. ...
