4th of July Festivities

Whew, what a long, FUN weekend. I don't even know where to start. Jason came home Thursday and we had a playgroup BBQ/pool party to attend. Then Friday we picked up the remaining furniture at the old house, since it's on track to be sold by August!!! Then Saturday we had a big day full of fun!

We got up early for the community parade. All the kids decorated their bikes or strollers or golf carts and walked from the top of our hill down to the pool for a big party. We thought we were just going to watch from the sidelines but as soon as we got to the top we ran into our friends and so we walked with them to the pool. It was pretty cool and we even had a police escort.

Then we walked back and got ready for the rest of the day. It was a nice walk and a great way to start the day.

We headed up the street to our friends for a BBQ lunch and playing on the jumpy castle for the kids.

These three play so well together and the girls LOVE to baby Ethan!

After lunch we headed home for Ethan's nap time and to finish getting things ready for the big fireworks display.

After feasting on ribs (even though most of us were still stuffed from lunch and all the snacks laying about) for dinner, we headed outside to enjoy the show.

I don't know who had more fun, the men or the kids! Lighting stuff on fire is always fun for these big guys, and chasing down the parachutes and running through smoke bombs is fun for the littler ones.

Ethan had the most fun playing with the pile of parachutes and eating them. And surprisingly, he wasn't effected or bothered by the big booming fireworks. He went to bed about 8:30p and slept right through the night.

We had about 17 people over to watch and then half way through our neighbors and their guests came out to watch too. We were pretty happy with most of what we bought. It felt like a professional show.

Everyone really had a great time and we're plotting already on how to make next year's bigger and better.

Hopefully next year we'll have more neighbors joining in. Right now, all but two houses on the cul-de-sac are for sale (the other one was just recently sold so we'll be getting new neighbors there soon).

It was a great weekend and now we're easing back into our busy summer schedule. Jason left this afternoon back to Ft. Bragg and won't be back until Labor Day weekend. But I'm planning on bringing the boys up for a couple weeks in August so that we can spend some time with Daddy. We miss him already!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
