Visit to the ER

It's been quite the week around here. Jason's been up at Ft. Bragg, NC to do his in-processing for his military training that starts at the first of the year. Luckily he got home tonight. I only wish it was last night...

As I was getting dinner ready last night I heard a big thunk and turned to see Jack crying over the leather ottoman in front of the couch.

His legs were on the couch, leading me to believe he either jumped or was trying to climb over to it. Either way, his lip was split wide open. I normally don't have any issues with blood and stuff, but this was enough to make me lightheaded! Anyway, I grabbed both boys and headed to the ER. What could have been a 4-5 hour event, was only a 2+ hour event, thanks to the wonderful nurse that worked on Jack.

Because of his strength, they had to knock Jack out (which freaked me out) to get the stitches in. They stitched inside his lip and underneath his lip. Jack fell asleep during the procedure (they paralyze the body but most people are aware of what's going on), which was a good thing as far as not having night terrors as a side effect, but bad in that it took about an hour to wake him up from it (he has deep sleeps).

Our neighbors showed up to help me with Ethan (who was a star for being dragged out of home without dinner and being in his car seat for so long - he didn't cry once!) and it was such a relief to have their company. Plus it was nice for Jack to have Maddie and Oskar there to comfort him.

Long story short(er), he's got a big, fat lip today and has a funny talk but is being a really trooper. Tomorrow he's off to the dentist as his gums are swollen and his teeth are a bit knocked around. That should be a fun trip - glad that Daddy is home to handle that one!

It was a very exhausting night (had to sleep with Jack in case he threw up so that he wouldn't choke on it). He was just fine but I had a few feet in my face and back! Now I'm off to get some much needed sleep!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
