Sunday, our third day in Prague, was spent on the first of our two excursions. We traveled to the Karlstejn Castle, home of King Charles IV.
We took a horse drawn carriage from the bottom of the town up to the
bottom of the castle grounds. That's the castle popping up in the back.
Pictures of the town as we made our way up the street.

At the base of the castle grounds they let us out of the carriage and we made our way up to the castle entry.
Making our way up...
The view was gorgeous from the top!
This is looking down on the village through one of the windows from the garden area. I love the curved road you can see they all all along.
Its history of more than six hundred years is related to the most loved
and renown Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles the IV, who built the
place in fear that plague would threaten Prague. He used to keep there
the Coronation Jewels and decorated the palace in the fabulous style of
the time. Nowadays the Castle hosts the worlds largest collection of
panel paintings by Master Theodoric, the largest portrait gallery of
Czech rulers in the country and the replica of the Czech Kings Crown.
How many pictures can one make take of the same view???
A better view of the town below.
This is the well they drew water from. That little sign next to Jason says the well is 78 meters deep! I've never seen a well so deep before but I don't know if I've ever been in a castle this high up on such a steep hill either.
The following pictures are from inside the castle on our tour.
Jason was LOVING this excursion.
After the tour we made our way down the hill back toward the parking lot at the base of the hill. We stopped for lunch with our group and did some shopping as well.
At the bottom of the hill we found this old Soviet era machine gun bunker.
All we could think was how much the boys would have loved this tour!
Once we got back into town we had the rest of the afternoon to wander around before meeting up with some of Jason's sales team for dinner.
We walked over to the Old Town Square to do some sightseeing and shopping but we were on a mission to find...
The Astrological Clock!
It was very impressive.
This was a cute open air market. Lots of souvenirs, fresh flowers, fruits and veggies and uniquely Prague items.
Then it was off to dinner across the Charles Bridge at dusk.
Then back across it at night. It's hard to see in these photos but it was so beautiful all lit up.
Attempting to get a good selfie!
We stopped for a nightcap after dinner before calling it a night and had to get a picture of the straw they gave me with my cider. It was so long it was almost impossible to drink with!
Tonight's gift was my favorite -- a hand drawn picture of The Charles Bridge!!
