Happy Mother's Day

I think one of the best Mother's Day gifts is just seeing how much improvement Ethan has had over the past few months. And even in the past few weeks I've seen lots of changes. I had to capture these photos of Ethan feeding himself applesause. For the past week or so, if I put anything in front of him, he'll pick up the utensil and start feeding himself! I look back to the days of having to feed him even finger food myself and can't believe we've reached this milestone. And he doesn't even make that big of a mess!

It's these little moments that take my breath away and make me so proud of the little lad he is becoming. And while we still have our moments (like on Mother's Day when all he want to do was hit and throw things and fuss all day), I realize now that they are fleeting. I think back to the beginning and feeling like we had a long, hard road in front of us. And while it has been longer and harder than with the others, it wasn't anywhere near as hard or long as I thought....

We had a nice long visit with, first, Grandma, then Nana and Granddad. I took full advantage of having extra hand to watch the boys to finally get some color in my front yard. I had been so unhappy with the look since we moved in, but with little babies, it's hard to get much playing in the dirt done. Finally with them a bit older and an extra set of eyes and hand to watch and occupy them, I sat down with a plan. And a helper!

I have to say that I'm quite proud of myself for actually coming up with a plan and then executing it! I'm infamous for buying plants with all intentions of planting, only to have life get in the way.

But not this time. And I couldn't be happier with the results!

I have a border of salvia in the bed going down the hill and a hydrangea on the hill that gets morning sun and afternoon shade - this is almost the only place in the front and back yard that does, too!

Along my walkway, I removed three bushes that weren't very healthy looking and planted two Knock-Out rose bushes in back and a trio of lavender plants in front. I have one more bush to move in that section and will plant my potted mum that we think is coming back. Then I have a few more ideas for some additional color in the front. We'll see if I can motivate myself to get back out there now that my help has returned to Seattle!

I hope all you mother's reading this had a wonderful Mother's Day. I sure enjoyed my Mother's Day treat to myself...my new front yard!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
