Snow Day 2011

I had planned to do a New Year's post but Wyatt has been suffering from a double ear infection for the past three weeks and he is just now starting to feel better and sleep through the night. I've been exhausted and barely making it through the day. But, now we're on our second round of antibiotics that seem to be working and I'm starting to feel human again. It's amazing what lack of sleep will do to you!

Last night we got about 6 inches of snow followed by freezing rain this morning, so we are enjoying a snow day, which has turned into another one for tomorrow (schools closed). We enjoyed spending the morning outside playing with the neighborhood.

Have I said lately how much I love our neighborhood and our neighbors? I am so happy that we moved here!

Jason and I commented how we have no snow gear for the boys (who would have thought we needed it living in Georgia?) and then our next door neighbor posted on Facebook that she had extra boots and snowpants for anyone needing them. So Jack was able to enjoy the snow without getting cold or wet. And since Ethan basically stayed in our arms, he stayed dry too!

Our front yard is perfect for sledding, and eventually all the kids in the neighborhood made their way over to sled with us. It was nice to visit with the moms and dads while the kids played.

Here is Jack enjoying his first time down the hill.

Here Jason took Ethan down for his first sled ride, which he seemed to enjoy but wasn't too keen on doing it again!

Later, when Wyatt woke up from his nap, Jason took him for a sled ride too!

Some of you may remember this hat from when Jack was little. I loved it on him and it's just as cute on Ethan. I can't wait to see how it looks on Wyatt in a year or two too.

Here is Ethan walking in the snow and ice. He did it, but wasn't to happy about it, or wanting to keep at it too long. But he is walking so much more and I'm very optimistic that he will be walking all the time soon!

Hope you enjoyed our snow day, we sure did. Now we're getting ready for some soup for dinner and an evening playing the Wii in the warmth of our lovely home.

Love to you all!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
