Hello 2011 - GOOD-BYE 2010

I don't think I've ever been so happy to say good-bye to a year as I have 2010. While it brought lots of wonderful things (Wyatt's birth, Jason home from the Army) it was also a very difficult year with all our hospital stays (Wyatt with meningitis and Jason with knee and neck surgery) and effectively the end of Jason's Special Forces Army career. Here is hoping that 2011 brings us peace in our choices and new opportunities and adventures....

We had started out with a big New Year's Eve party planned but by the day before, most had to cancel so we ended up with just our good friends, the Slaughter's. It was a nice, low-key evening and we all had fun. Both Ethan and Wyatt had been suffering from ear infections and with Wyatt not sleeping, and therefore Mommy and Daddy not sleeping, it was a much better New Year's Eve this way. Hopefully next year we can get back to our big parties.

These days it seems that wherever Ethan goes, Wyatt is not far behind. Sometimes Ethan likes it, other times he's busy pushing him away. The favorite game for them both right now is to open the kitchen cupboards and pull (or throw as the case may be) everything out. Sometimes it's a nice way for them to occupy themselves so I can get things done but normally I can just feel my blood pressure rising.

I know I need to just relax and let them have fun, but since it's usually me doing all the cleaning up it's just one more thing to add to my plate.

I'm an impatient person by nature, so if anyone has suggestions on how to let things go, I'm all ears!

We've been enjoying a lovely week being "snowed in." Although the roads seem to be better (Jason's been out the past two days and says it's fine), school has been closed through tomorrow - we'll see what happens for Friday. We have Ethan's IEP meeting with the schools scheduled for Friday, so I really hope we can keep that scheduled. I can't believe Ethan will be starting preschool in just under two weeks!

As you can see, we have another little mini-Jason on our hands! This little one is growing up so fast, he's able to stand on his own for a few seconds now and today he was trying to stand up by himself in the middle of the room. And Ethan is walking so much more now, it's almost all he does now, thank goodness. He just might be walking all the time by his 3rd birthday!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
