Life at The Cornwell's

Not much is happening with us but I'm trying hard to just take photos of the boys throughout the day. I know how much Jason misses them and likes to see random shots of how we spend our days. These I couldn't resist, as Jack and Ethan always like to watch me change Wyatt so they can talk to him. I love Ethan peeking over to see what's going on.

Jack and Wyatt have a special bond and Wyatt is always giving Jack smiles (or patches, as he calls them). It's so cute to see them interact. I hope it continues throughout the years.

Jack was cracking me up the other day by very carefully organizing his animal friends on his lower bunk to sleep with him. At first he just lined them all up, but by the second day he was very careful about where each one went. I just sat back and listened to his reasoning, trying to remember what it was like when I was four. I still forget sometimes that he is only four years old.

Here we got Wyatt out on a belly toy that we had gotten for Ethan originally. Wyatt may still be a little young for it but it's a change of pace from his other toys.

Last weekend we went to a BBQ at our friend's house here in the neighborhood. Her husband Dan was home from for his two week R&R from Iraq (Dan and Jason used to be in the same Army unit and they are the reason we moved into this neighborhood). They got a jumpy, water slide and slip and slide for the kids - who all had a blast. I didn't bring a swimsuit for Ethan and all he could do was sit by the side of the water toy and splash. I stripped him down to his diaper and let him have at it!

Wyatt already has his first girlfriend - the neighbors across the street have a little girl that is about a month older. Whenever we all get together, the two babies lay on the floor and look at each other - sometimes they even reach for each other. It's the cutest thing ever!

Jack was being very helpful the other morning and told me he was going to clean the whole house for me. While he didn't make it all the way through the house, he did get the vacuum out and get some of the dog hair that Stanley is CONSTANTLY shedding these days.

Doesn't Ethan look like such a big boy playing at the table? I saw him and couldn't get over it. Today he even tried taking steps without there being anyone if front of him to catch him. He just took a step or two, fell down and then got back up - all smiles! I guess he found his confidence.

I took him to a pediatric ENT today to have his ears checked, as many kids with DS have hearing issues. He'd been really fussy the past few weeks so I thought maybe he had fluid in his ears and would need tubes (very common) but it turns out that everything looks good. They said he hearing was normal or very close to normal. Many DS kids have hearing loss so we're very fortunate with him. I find myself counting my blessings with Ethan as there are so many health issues that effect them and so far, Ethan has skirted so many of them. Our speech therapist was telling me that because Ethan's mouth muscles are so strong she thinks he might speak very normally and not sound like he has any issues. It's nice to know all our time spent working on his face has paid off!

These last two photos are courtesy of Jack. I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot more Jack photos, as whenever I get the camera out he is begging to take a picture. And that might be the only way you see a picture of me!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
