4th of July Celebration

We had a great 4th of July party and celebrated with friends and neighbors all night long! We started around 3pm with a BBQ and ended the firework display around 10:30p. We were exhausted by the end of it but had so much fun. Ethan made it until about 9:45a and Jack didn't get to bed until about 11:30p. Tonight it's dinner, then bath then bed!

We started off with lots of daytime colorful smoke bombs, parachutes and other fun stuff for the kids and then we moved on to the bigger ones.

The street behind us kept us entertained with big fireworks of their own and a live band. It was great to have music to enjoy as well.

The weather was perfect - mid 80s, low humidity and even a light breeze!

While some of Ethan's DS friends had a hard time with the loudness of the fireworks, he could have cared less. He really enjoyed them much more this year than last.

We finally got a family picture!

Jason was smart this year and made all the kids pick up the mess from the fireworks between rounds. It made for a much shorter clean up for him and Jack this morning!

This is Daddy giving Ethan his first sparkler. He did a good job and really liked it!

We were so happy that Dan (below) was able to make it home from Iraq that morning for his two week R&R to spend the holiday with us. Dan and Jason used to be in the same Army Reserve Unit together and they live here in the neighborhood and are a main reason we live here ourselves. They have become such good friends of our and our kids love playing together. With both our husbands gone due to the military, Kellie and I have really gotten close and rely on each other a lot.

This was an Ethan approved firework display!

Jack and Myleigh enjoyed the show and each others company! Here's to another successful 4th of July celebration. I hope you all had a safe and happy 4th too!

Now we're looking forward to Jason being transferred into the home based community unit to finish his recovery at home. We're hoping by the first of August to have him home!!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
