Last Couple of Weeks

We had such a nice weekend with Jason home to celebrate the 4th of July. It was hard to see him go, especially for Jack, who for the second time cried after Daddy left. But the good news is that we seem to be on track for Jason to get transferred into the home based community unit on the 25th of July!! That means he should be home for the rest of his recovery time -- and who knows how long that could take as he still needs to have his knee surgery.

He will have to in-process down in Tampa, FL for a week so the boys and I are thinking of joining him. We could all use some time on the beach, as long as it's not covered in oil!!

Now we're just trying to get into a routine with it being just me and the boys. So far, it seems to be going well and I'm actually able to get a lot of stuff done. Of course, Jack would rather I just play with him all day. Unfortunately, he'll just have to settle for nap times.

I've had a rough couple of days with Ethan. He's hit the terrible two stage and it's just amplified by not being able to communicate. These past couple of days he's just been fussy and crying for no reason I can figure out. Luckily his OT gave me some suggestions to help out. We've been putting him in time out for hitting and that has really helped, so now we're going to use the time out to give him some time to calm down when he gets really upset and fussy and crying for no reason. We'll see how it goes. At least it gives me an outlet and something to try with him to help him calm down. This stage is really hard on us all but I keep telling myself that it will get better, especially once he can walk and talk. There there will be so much more for him to participate in.

These two photos were taken by Jack, who loves to take pictures now whenever I get my camera out.

While I haven't been leaving the house much with Jason gone, we are looking forward to a BBQ this weekend with friends and maybe a trip to the pool with them tomorrow when it's supposed to be 100 outside! Whew, after a beautiful 4th of July (low humidity and a breeze), summer seems to have finally kicked in with our hot temps, which the whole country seems to be experiencing these days.

Stay cool everyone!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
