New Year's Eve

We got ready for New Year's Eve by starting on Ethan's big boy room! Since Jason won't be around when I move baby Wyatt into the nursery and Ethan into his big boy room we decided we had better get it started now so that he can do bits and pieces when he's home for the various 4 day weekends he will have between now and the summertime.

We decided to go with an aquarium/fish theme since Ethan liked our trip to the aquarium so much. The blue color is very similar to Jack's blue room but Jason added two walls of a sandy tan sea bottom. He'll add some algae the next time he's home and then we'll add some fish decals to complete the look. We found a nice bunkbed set that we liked and decided that was the best way to go so that Jack and Ethan could bunk together on the occasions we have more visitors than guest rooms (like when Jason finished his Special Forces training this Thanksgiving).

We also cleaned up the playroom - finally! We boxed up some really old toys and moved the train table upstairs. We bought a leather ottoman to go in the great room downstairs that had been a playroom for the boys. But they like having the toys in the keeping room and office (until Daddy gets home and starts working again) so we're going to make it more formal.

These are the photos from our 3rd annual Family Friendly New Year's Eve party. It was quite the success and Jack had a blast with all his friends. And the parents all liked having a place to go for the holiday to celebrate. There were three other families with a total of seven other kids, so it was quite the busy place for a few hours. The men hanging out in the basement didn't appreciate it when I passed out the party noise makers and then sent them downstairs!!

Just before everyone left around 8:30p we did our own countdown to shout Happy New Year and then did some party poppers. The kids really seemed to like it. I know my boys played hard fell asleep quickly. Well, Jack actually made it to about 10:30p but we tried to wake him at midnight to shout Happy New Year for real and he did not want to wake up!

This is Jack passed out in the basement waiting to countdown to the new year.

Here's to a great 2010!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
