Louisville Box Lacrosse Tournament

Jack has his first box lacrosse tournament the first weekend of December in Louisville, KY. The same weekend Jason planned his kite-boarding trip to Costa Rica. So I packed up the boys and hit the road. I was a bit nervous about doing it all by myself, but it ended up being a pretty good weekend.

We drove up Friday since we had an early-ish game on Saturday. We walked into the location and I thought "this will be fun with an arcade in the lobby." And sure enough, this is where Ethan and Wyatt spent most of their time. Wyatt was constantly begging me for money, and Ethan kept getting toys given to him by other kids. At least they were occupied and I could enjoy the games.

At first we sat right in front of the glass to watch the first game.

But then I kept hearing cheering from above and realized that there was an upstairs.

With a better view. So I packed up our stuff and headed up. The other two spent the weekend basically on their own and checking in every now and then. It was refreshing for them to both have so much freedom and to be in a place that was secure enough for me not to worry too much.

Jack's team had a fantastic weekend and went undefeated all day on Saturday.

I love seeing all the boys lined up watching other teams.

That night we all went out with the other players to eat and play at this place that had bowling, an arcade and restaurants. Again, the kids had the freedom to roam about on their own, although I did "lose" Ethan once or twice as the place was so big. The adults had a table right by the entrance so I knew he didn't leave, but it still makes you nervous.

The big kids loved walking through the ropes course above the arcade.

 The place was HUGE!

But it was an early night, since we had an early game on Sunday.

We went undefeated into the finals.

We should have won the final game but the reffing was questionable and the team that one owned the location we played in.

If you look at the record of both teams, our team was better. We both had the same win/loss record however we just lost the wrong game. We scored more total goals and had less scored on us in comparison to the winning team but that doesn't make it any easier to loose.

On a personal note, Jack won defensive player of the game in the semi-finals and that is a big deal to us, as we're always encouraging him to be more aggressive on the field.

And I had a fantastic weekend with my boys, and some great bonding time with Jack, so that was a win for me as well.

All in all it was a successful weekend.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Busy week

It's been a busy week with little things here and there, which is getting me ready for the busy summer ahead of us with gymnastics, swimming and all Ethan's therapies. Whew, I need a break from just thinking about it. We did have a nice walk down to our community playground this afternoon. Ethan couldn't stop laughing on the swings and the slide (he couldn't get enough of the slide) and Jack made a little friend! Great afternoon. Speaking of therapies, Ethan starts his occupational therapy next week and I'm so excited. We got the therapy notes back from his evaluation and, while I'm not positive on how I'm reading it, the scores say from poor to very poor. We have been very lucky that Ethan hasn't had any medical issues and so far he seems to be doing well with responding to his therapies, so I really want to make sure he has the best of everything. Today has just made me a little blue thinking about Ethan not being 100% of what other kids are and ...

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back. ...
