It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas

I always start my Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving and I'm usually done by the end of the weekend. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning out each room this year to get a good blank space. There was a lot of old toys and junk laying around and I've been going through a bit of purging phase lately. I'm ready to let go of useless junk.

I always seems to start in the family room, probably because we spend the most time in this room. I also always try to get a photo of the boys by the tree for Christmas cards or calendars.

 These are some funny outtakes.

It's so hard to get everyone to look and smile at the same time.

 But this turned out perfect!!

Then it was time for the boys to decorate their kid tree -- all the ornaments they've made over the years at school. It's my favorite thing.

Then it was on to the formal living room.

I've had to give up control of decorating for the holidays. I do tend to suggest and have been firm on a few placements, but the boys love to help so much that I've given in. They have to live here and enjoy it as well.

It didn't turn out too bad.

I've tried to keep it a bit more simple.

 But still fun.

 And then there's this kid.

I tried to get a profile picture of him for our Christmas cards but he was being so silly.

But I love it, since I don't have a lot of photos of Ethan - he hates to pose for them.

Our Elf returned for the season. And he brought along a couple gifts for the boys to get them in the spirit of things.

Who is this guy???
Jack decided to cut his hair and to go pretty short. I really like it but he went back and forth while everyone gave him a hard time. But I think he settled on liking it in the end.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
