Summertime Gardening

I kicked off the summer with a little sprucing up of the yard.

I started up front by removing some small plants that lined the walk that Jason and I both hated.

It looks some much cleaner. I still want to remove some of these bushes but will wait until maybe the Fall and decide what I want in their place.

Then to the back and fixing up this spot right in front of the back deck. In the past it held strawberries and other vegetables, but Bandit has taken to relieving himself in this area and I hated that we were eating food he was that close too. Plus, the strawberries really took over and it was just a mess. Next spring I'll get my act together and plant them in the pots I have on the back deck!

I started with a hydrangea and a hanging fuchsia, as well as a hosta back in the shade. But I needed something to line the edge and give it more definition.

I had tried to grow hydrangea in other parts of the yard, but this spot under the guest bedroom window has proven to be the winning location. Just enough sun and shade to make it grow so big and bountiful.

A rare event - Ethan coming outside to keep me company!!

I added a bleeding heart but still needed more...

Wyatt (just like his brother Jack used to) loves to help me in the garden. He helped dig the holes, fill in the plants and water them!

Does it get any cuter than that?

I love him out there in his shorts, work gloves and snow boots. LOL

 Wyatt is a hard worker.

 The finished look!

Two Tigereye Gold Gloriosa Daisies and two Snow Hill Meadow Sage.

I love it more than the strawberries and vegetables!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
