Spring Break - Yorktown, VA

Tuesday was our nicest, warmest day of the week and we took full advantage of it.
First stop, Yorktown Victory Center.

Inside they are still working on completing The American Revolution Timeline, but there were a few things we could see (photo at the end). So we focused most of our time outside in the Continental Army Encampment and Farm.

And, once again, Ethan was happy to have chickens to chase!

We got there just in time to watch them fire a canon.

 Here are the soldiers tents.

I liked this sign, especially the lower rate bit.

Once again, Jason got involved in an exhibit, this time chatting with actor portraying the doctor. So Ethan and I spent some time looking around on our own and found the officers tents.

 A future Lieutenant Colonel.

 Signing important documents.

 Checking out the map.

On the way out the boys tried on some uniforms, which they wouldn't do when we first passed by them. They both wore the US uniforms and no one could be persuaded to put on the British ones, even for their British mother.

Wyatt was on a mission to get a cap gun from day one when he saw them at the first museum.

Gotta say, he looks good with it.

 As does Jack.

Then we drove through the little town and saw a few things. But no one wanted to get out and walk it with me. Oh well...

We stopped for lunch and I got a few photo ops.

Loved the ship in the background.

Then it was off to find a place for Jason to kiteboard. It was VERY windy but while Jason was getting his gear all set up the boys were poking around the beach and came across sea glass. We were very surprised but happy to add to our collection from the West Coast. So we spent some time digging around and this is what we came up with.

Then Jason got his kite boarding in.

And then back to the GWL for our final afternoon/evening to enjoy the waterpark.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
