Spring Break - Colonial Williamsburg, Arlington, DC and Maryland

Our last few days were spent basically all over the place. We checked out of GWL and into a timeshare condo my parents have after making a VERY cold trip out to Virginia Beach. Jason wanted to kite board out there but once we arrive he decided it was TOO windy for his kite. We hung out there for a bit just to make sure the winds wouldn't die down soon and then headed out.

My mom spent a few years in Norfolk as a child when my grandfather was stationed there in the Navy. It was fun to come out of the tunnel into Norfolk and see the big Navy Destroyers docked at the Naval Station and just imagine them living there. We didn't have a chance to drive through Norfolk at all but since I didn't know much about where they lived it would have been more fun to have my mom there as a tour guide.

Then we spent some time walking through Colonial Williamsburg. It was a bit rough as it was super cold (maybe 45 degrees) and Ethan wasn't feeling well and didn't want to walk. But they were troopers as we walked down and back one long road. I would have loved more time to discover it but you have to make sacrifices when you have little ones, especially when they don't feel well.

But they seemed to enjoy everyone in their outfits, speaking to us as if we lived back then, and seeing the horses and cattle being walked around.

 A step back in time.

On our way back from the end of the street we were lucky to encounter General George Washington making his way down the street. Everyone stopped to salute him or bow to him. It was very cool to see.

A selfie because I liked the garden behind us, and I hadn't been in many photos and I want my boys to see pictures of me!

I liked this flag - it represents me quite well with both my American and British sides.

And I'm always attracted to the lion logos - makes me think of pubs.

I finally found the perfect thing for my kids!

 Lock 'em up!

We got home and had a nice snuggle, as Ethan wasn't feeling well at all.

Thursday was the highlight for me - we got to make it up to visit my best friends since 1st grade and her daughter! It was great to catch up with Giesela and finally meet her baby Dietra.

Then it was on the Maryland for dinner with my cousin but not without a quick drive through Washington, DC because why not?

Traffic was bad so it was just a drive by photo opp tour.

We took the boys when Wyatt was a newborn, as Jason had to have surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center but they didn't remember much, if anything. But we'll be back when they get a little older.

Then it was on to dinner with my cousin and great friend, Kristin where I FINALLY got to meet her family! Her little girls are four and I hate that it took so long to get up there to see everyone but we've already started talking about more visits with each other, so I'm happy!

Wyatt and Charlotte were our little photo bombers.

Since Ethan wasn't feeling well and it was a long drive, we decided to head home a day early. So we spent our last morning just puttering around the timeshare grounds.

Jack and Jason did a little skateboarding between rain falls.

And Wyatt found a tree to climb.

 Happiness!

It was a very fun trip but we were all ready to head home.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
