Spring Break Day Three

Just before you get to Fripp Island you drive through Hunting Island State Park, which also has a lighthouse, so we decided Wednesday morning to drive over there and take a look.

Getting six kids to take a picture (and all look the same way) is near impossible.

But they sure loved hanging out together.

Ethan, Wyatt and Ryder were too little to climb all the way to the top of the lighthouse, so Kellie took the older kids while I stayed below with the younger ones.  While we were waiting I started chatting with an older woman sitting on a bench waiting for the rest of her group.

It always amazes me the number of people I have met because they have recognized that Ethan has Down syndrome. In the first few days I assumed we would be shunned by many because of it but I have come to learn that we will be approached by more.  I love that about Ethan!  Anyway, we had a lovely chat before the little natives got restless and we started to wander around the lighthouse grounds.

The remains of an old railroad track and cart.

The remains of the old house of the lighthouse keeper (now great balance beams to run along).

Way up at the top you can see the other half of our group - if you look close enough!!

On their way up.

Made it!  Look at that view!

At the far end of the grounds they had two little houses. This one showed what life was like for the lighthouse keeper and his family back in the day.

And the other one showed this great display of the Lighthouse's of South Carolina!

Of course, both boys wanted their photo taken in it.

Just smile!

All of them (minus Ryder) at the base of the lighthouse.

The park rangers told us to be sure and stop at the next park entrance to see the baby alligator - so we hopped in the car to check it out.

They had a baby alligator, some turtles and lots of snakes. Then it was off down the pier. At the end of the pier you will see the start of Fripp Island.

Ethan didn't want to leave so Jack had to give him a piggy back ride to get him off the pier. Thank goodness for such a great big brother!!

Then it was time to hit the beach for the afternoon.

Who is that shark?

After an afternoon at the beach and dinner back at the house, it was time to load up on to the golf cart for our night trip to get ice cream. This time we made them take pictures on the alligator first.

Mom's are always looking for good photo ops.

My sweet boys.

Before heading back to the house we stopped off at a playground at the other end of the island that I happened to spot on our way back from the lighthouse.  Burn off some energy from that ice cream before settling down for the night!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
