Christmas Without a Tree

Without any family in town it was another quiet Christmas, well, as quiet as it can be with a new puppy in the house!
We had our typical Christmas Eve dinner of snacks (a hold over from our Douglasville days when we would spend the evening with our neighbors), including shrimp, cheese and crackers!  The nice thing about this spread is that we can eat it the next day for lunch between our big breakfast and dinner!
It was an odd year too because we had no Christmas tree. So we just used this side of the fireplace and built-in's. The boys seemed to like it, which helped.  The upside was that it really made cleaning up after the holiday's easy (no ornament and tree to take down!!).
Thanks to my creative neighbor, this was our Christmas tree this year!
So blessed to have so many good friends in our lives. I love getting the cards and seeing how much everyone has grown and changed over the year. I especially love getting cards that included notes on how the year was. I always tell myself I'm going to do this each year and then December comes along and I feel too rushed. But there is always next year (or this year), right?
After our other tradition of driving around and looking at Christmas lights we got into jammies and got things ready for Santa and his reindeer.  Wyatt made reindeer food at school so we took it outside for him to sprinkle on the grass.

Then it was time to get cookies and milk ready to set out.

Christmas morning and all the gifts!
I love seeing the boys faces when they catch sight of it all.

 Let the craziness begin!

I think this was his third gift opened and that was it - he spent all day with this toy while his other presents sat for several days.

Wyatt was worn out by the late afternoon/early evening.
We hope you had as wonderful a Christmas as we did!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
