Sicily Trip of A Lifetime, Part 1

I have so many pictures to share that I'm trying to break them up to be reasonable but I don't know how successful I'll be.  I'll start with our first day.

Well, I guess I should explain the trip, huh? Jason earned what is called The Master's Club trip, which is given each year to the top 6% of sales earners. But not only sales, you have to meet other criteria as well.  We never thought we would get this trip, as Sales Engineers rarely are awarded this perk.  It's funny though, because other arms of the Corporation send whatever sales engineer that has a winning sales guy, since they are part of how the sales guy got the sale.  But oh well, if we never go again, this trip was definitely worth it to us both.

It was a LONG travel day -- we left Atlanta sometime after 4p (our flight was delayed due to the cleaning crew.  Turns out that the people on the arriving flight TRASHED the plane.  They said normally the cleaning crew could turn around a flight in about 25-30 minutes but it took them over an HOUR - yikes!).  We landed in Rome the next morning around 8a and then had a couple hours to make our way through passport control and take a look around the airport. It killed us to be Rome and unable to see any of the ancient sites.  Oh well, a trip for the next time with the boys perhaps.

We met up with two of Jason's sales guys and their wives that also earned the trip and then hopped a short flight from Rome to Palermo, Sicily.  From there is was an hour and a half drive to the resort in Sciacca.  It was beautiful views but the almost 24 hours of being awake caught up with us and we promptly fell asleep.  We still had a whole evening of events to attend!!
The resort was beautiful with a golf course, clubhouse, spa and resort area and bicycles everywhere that you could just hop on and ride around.  Plus, we were right on the Mediterranean Sea.  We found out the next day that the Verdura Golf and Spa Resort was the finest hotel on the entire island of Sicily - and it definitely showed!

We got to our room, and before we laid down for a short nap, we took a walk and bike ride around to get our bearings.  Then we took a quite nap before the meet and greet that night.
We wanted to get a view of the Mediterranean but I'm not sure why we had the photo taken into the sun - ha ha.  It was a wonderful evening of amazing food and drink (seriously, I could eat the food there for the rest of my life and never be unsatisfied.  How do American's eat such poor diets?!?!) and wonderful company.  One of the best parts of the trip was meeting all the amazing people that work for the four different arms of the company and their spouses/significant others.

We retired to our room that night to find the first of many gifts we would receive every day - a bottle of champagne, chocolates, bags and beautiful pashmina's.

Stay tuned for all our adventures!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
