Planeta Wine Estate

Our last day in Sicily was probably our favorite activity!
We drove about 30 minutes west of our hotel to the Planeta Wine Estate, which is also a Bed & Breakfast.  There we broke up into groups and either did wine tasting, took a cooking class, or did a bike tour from the winery to the sea and back.

 Isn't it beautiful behind me?
Can you guess what we did?
We did the amazing bike tour and had THE.BEST.TIME!
We biked mostly downhill to the sea, which was gorgeous, as usual.
And then biked back up.  The first part up was basically steep switchbacks.
Luckily, we stopped halfway up for a break.
How can you beat this view?

Seriously, Jason and I talked about how we could possibly move here, we absolutely fell in love with the are, the people, the food and even the way of life.
I'm not exactly sure what this old building is, but Jason had the camera so it must have had some historic relevance.  Guess you need to have a conversation with him to get more details on our trip. I'm sticking to the fluffy, fun details!!

After we made our way back - it was probably the most beautiful bike ride I have ever taken - we had a delicious lunch outside on the patio by the herb garden (we had olive oil ice cream for dessert) and tried several different wines with each course.  We met a lovely couple that was originally from Romania but now living outside London and just had the best time.
We came back to the hotel to rest up, pack for our very early departure the next morning (4am) and get ready for the beach themed final dinner by the sea.  We found more lovely treats waiting for us too.
Including a beautiful blue bag and box...

golf hats (which Jason promptly lost but leaving it on the return flight home),

and an amazing Citizen watch for Jason.
This is a picture of all the wonderful gifts the company bestowed on us.  And again, I'm not trying to brag or show off, I simply want to share the amazement of this trip.
The night before at the gala dinner where they awarded all the sales winners, they made a wonderful point of thanking and appreciating the significant others. Jason said over and over to me that this trip was a thank you to me for all the support I gave him for his job and the countless travel hours away from home, and it was so nice to be publicly thanked by the company.
This is my half of the loot, including olive oil from the winery we were at and soaps and candles from the hotel, and very cool folding Ray Ban sunglasses.
And this was Jason's half.

It was really hard to leave behind all the pampering, good company and amazing experiences, but it helped that we had about 28 hours ahead of us to spend in Amsterdam, somewhere I've always wanted to visit.

Stay tuned...

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
