Snow Vacation Round 1

As you may know, Georgia got hit by a "surprise" snow storm the last week of January.  I say surprise because no one prepared for it, even though we were told it was coming.  I guess no one was really prepared for it to be as bad as it was.  Kids went off to school only to be released a few hours later, however, it was a few hours too late.  The roads iced up fast and people got stuck everywhere!  Jason made the normal 45 minute drive to the airport in a record 7+ hours and the boys had to be rescued from school by a neighbor since the buses were all stuck trying to get the middle and high school kids home first.
But eventually everyone got where they needed to be and then the fun ensued.
A look up our street on day #2.

You will not see any photos of Ethan playing outside in the snow as he takes too much after me.  We'd both rather stay inside by the fire where it's warm!  The other two could play outside until they turn blue and still not want to come in!!
We got about 3 1/2 inches of snow (they had only predicted maybe an inch) and a little bit of ice.

The kids got a 3 day snow vacation and all us parents started to worry about make-up days and lost school break days (we had two "snow" days immediately following our Christmas break due to very low temps. And I sit here blogging this during our second round of winter storms with the worst still to come they say).

The best part of our snow days is that we live on a street filled with friends to play with and yards with awesome hills for sledding.  It brings back fun memories from my childhood days back in Seattle.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
