Summer Family Outing

At the beginning of the year, Jason and I decided that we wanted to get out at least one weekend of the month and do something active with the boys.  It's still a bit hard with Ethan and Wyatt being so young but we've enjoyed our adventures.  Today we took advantage of the cooler weather (upper 70s/low 80s as opposed to mid 80s and humid) to drive up to Amicalola State Park, just outside Ellijay, GA.  This waterfall is the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River.
It was a family event, as we even brought the dogs with us!  We tried to all hike it but Ethan didn't want to cooperate and actually walk, so we took advantage of a trail built with repurposed tire treads and took the little ones in the stroller.
 It was so pretty!
Can you see the boys?  One day we'd like to come back and actually hike all the way up it.
Looking down from the halfway point.

Ethan is trying to climb out of my arms here so that he could look at the pictures Jason was taking.  He loves to look at the pictures and it's tricky to catch him in one.
Jack, Jason and the dogs walked up the 400+ steps from midway to the top of the falls while I pushed the little ones back to the car (that was great exercise for me) and drove to the top to meet the rest.  Then we had a little snack.
And Jack played in the river that leads to the falls.

Wyatt couldn't stand it and had to follow Jack, where he promptly fell in!
I had no change of clothes so he toughed it out in his wet shorts until we got back to the car and then he rode home in a new diaper and no pants - his favorite way to roll, to be quite honest.
Wyatt is all about Jack - everything Jack says, Wyatt says, everything Jack does, Wyatt tries to do.  It's so cute to see how much Wyatt looks up to Jack.  Unfortunately, Jack doesn't appreciate it -- yet.
This is the view from the top of the falls.  So peaceful...
On our drive home, Jason turned down a road to go see something but couldn't find it so we turned around, only to come across this fellow on our way back.
It was so cool to see a bear so close up.  He just stood in the road for awhile before turning around and lumbering back off to the woods.  So thankful to be in a car and not just out walking though!!
It was such a great day.  I love our family adventures and all the cool things we do and see!  Life is great.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
