Backyard Complete and Broken In

I tried posting ALL my photos of the backyard transformation but it must have been too many, as I couldn't get it to upload.  So I decided that you all probably didn't want to see that much detail anyway!  LOL
We were on vacation in Florida while the finished up the last week of work so we came home to find the yard (almost) done.  It was exciting and so amazing to see such a beautiful yard.  It was way beyond our expectations and we simply LOVE to be outside all the time now.
Before the hill started at the base of the playset and basically went up at a very steep incline.  Now we have about 10 feet of additional yard for the boys to play in.  Perfect as they love to kick the soccer ball and hit the baseballs.
These are the steps on the driveway side of the yard.  At some point we might add a little patio at the top of the steps to the left, since it's such a flat area.
This is the view down the walking path towards the fireplace patio area.  I'm looking forward to planting lots of flowers and bushes to fill in the area and make it mine.
The boys, being boys (especially Wyatt), can't seem to stay out of the river rock area.  I knew it was going to be tempting for him.
Who needs seats when you have built in sitting areas?
This is the view from the patio looking down to the house.  Luckily, the patio area stays in the shade for most of the day.
 It's so relaxing up here.
And luckily, with the green space behind us, we will always have privacy.
This is the stone bridge over the river rock river.  I'm now anxious for it to rain heavily so we can see how well this takes the water and funnels it to where we want it, instead of just in our backyard.
This is the view from up in Ethan's room.
And a birds-eye view from the upstairs playroom.
Last Friday night we had some good friends over to help us break in the fireplace.
Of course we HAD to make s'mores!
The kids LOVED roasting the marshmallows.
However, with the heat and humidity of the south, on top of the heat from the fireplace, it was a very messy experience with the chocolate!!  But it was so yummy.

It will be perfect in the fall to sit outside with a glass of wine or beer and enjoy the crispness.  Oh, and once we get a TV out there, we'll enjoy watching all the football games too.
I got right to work planting.  I started with two purple and gold (I know, what was I thinking with Husky colors) day lillies.  They really are stunning.
And also a butterfly bush.  It was tricky planting this on the hillside but I look forward to it getting big and beautiful.  With the purple color, I might make this Jason's Husky corner!  LOL

Ethan enjoyed the playset and I enjoyed watching him from the walking path - almost straight across!
 Wheeeeeeeeeee!
This is how Wyatt looks when he says "cheese" for the camera.  Too cute!
We've been finding a lot of frogs in the yard lately but the other night I came downstairs to find one hanging out on the back door!  I had to take a photo to show the boys.
I finally got my hydrangea planted.  I just hope it does well in this part of the yard.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the tour of the backyard.  We look forward to hosting many a backyard party and hope you know that all our friends and family are always welcome to stop by and enjoy the yard with us!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
