The Last Days of Summer

School started back up this week, which was far too early in my book, so here are a few photos of our last days of summer. We've had some really hot weather and Jason had been recovering from his latest (and last, hopefully) surgery - which was a success - so we basically stayed around the house, but we are planning a trip to the beach for Labor Day weekend with some good friends of ours.

Ethan and Wyatt were getting into the school spirit (I'll post school pics soon) by trying to wear the Mr. Potato Head glasses. These two are so silly together!

And even though Ethan and Wyatt are the best of friends and always want to play with each other, Wyatt is so much like Jack - an outside boy who would rather be out than in.

Over the summer, Wyatt has mastered the playset. First by climbing up the ladder and sliding down the slide, and now by climbing UP the slide and sliding down. I really have to direct him to use the ladder, as he would prefer the slide to get up.

Here he goes up the right way.

And there he goes down the right way!

We've been enjoying our new deck furniture. It's been lovely to sit out there while Jason grills or the boys play in the backyard. It makes the deck so much more useful. I can't wait for it to cool down a bit more and then enjoy a nice glass of wine. There is a beautiful new lantern in the Willow House Fall catalog that I'm hoping to get so I can hang them up and enjoy it all by candlelight!

Wyatt entertaining himself (before he got his hair cut) - all the boys have always loved the dog beds to play on!

Here you can see just how much like Jack Wyatt is. I'm sure Jack is looking forward to the day these two can go on adventures together in the woods and down to the creek!

Can you see the dirt in Wyatt's mouth?

Enjoying the last few lazy summer days.

The day before school started we ventured out to the zoo. Hunter from next door came with us and it made Jack's day!

The weather was hot and humid first thing in the morning and then cooled off by mid-morning and then got humid again in the early afternoon. But we made the most of it.

We saw elephants, lions, monkeys, apes... you name it!

But Ethan wanted nothing to do with any of them.

Wyatt loved the monkeys! Perhaps because he climbs like one now...

Both little ones loved the play area we stopped at half way through the zoo.

Then on to the reptile house (to cool off) where Ethan enjoyed running around and making friends with everyone.

Then we got to the Panda exhibit and Ethan finally found an animal that he was interested in!

A brief stop at the petting zoo...

Then on to the train ride, merry-go-round and then home.

It was a great last day of summer...

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
