4th of July - The Monsoon of 2011

Now that it's almost a month late, here are our 4th of July photos! We had a very fun day, despite the monsoon rain we had in the evening.

We started the day with a parade in the front of the neighborhood, then over to our friends for our annual tradition of lunch and play before we grill out and have our firework display at our home.

The weather for the day started out great, and then at about 4pm the heavens opened up and started pouring. It stopped about an hour later...but soon returned.

I've been enjoying using all my beautiful Willow House products to entertain with and display in new ways. It's always fun to find a creative use for a piece that you think can only be used in a traditional way.

I love my dessert tower and have used this French Wire Tiered Stand for every holiday since I received it last fall - LOVE IT!

It was also fun to use my Must Have Mini Markers, along with my buckets, to display the drinks. Of course all the men commented that I didn't need to use the signs, as you could tell by looking in the buckets what was in there. But the women had my back and explained that it was nice to look at - and my point was the little kids that weren't tall enough to see down into the bucket could tell from their view which one to grab from. Men!

This year truly felt like a Seattle 4th of July -- very wet! I don't ever remember a 4th of July down here where it rained non-stop for hours on end. And it not only rained, it poured! Especially when Jason was outside manning the grill. He was such a great sport about it - we all appreciated his good attitude.

The rain didn't stop the grilling and it didn't stop the display of fireworks. We had a brief period of light rain at the start, so we tried to get the colored smoke bombs and parachute ones for the kids done quickly.

We didn't enjoy the view from the driveway (the best place to look up and really get a feel of the big ones) but luckily we had a covered area to watch from! All the kids stayed in the street with Jason (except the littlest ones). The rain didn't spoil the show for Jason.

Everyone was drenched at the end but we had so much fun! We had to cut the show off early because it became too hard for Jason to light the wicks in the rain. But we enjoyed the rest of them the following weekend with even more friends and neighbors, so it all worked out in the end!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
