Jason's Surgery A Success

I've been so bad about keeping updated with this blog...so sorry. It's been a crazy few months but we seem to be in a fairly good routine now. Hopefully I can get back to regularly updating this. Although, Jason heads back up to Ft. Bragg on the 25th and it looks like he'll be up there for at least a month before he can get transferred into the home based unit to recover at home. Hopefully it won't be too much longer than the month...

Jason's surgery up at Walter Reed was a success and while he's still recouping and has limited abilities to lift and move things he's doing well.

The trip to DC was pretty fun, considering what we were up there for. We ended up with a lot more time to see the sites. Jason was supposed to have his pre-op appointment all day on the Monday, but was done by 11am, so we got to enjoy DC altogether.

Visiting the new World War II exhibit. It was a very warm afternoon and that water looked so inviting. After this photo Ethan made his way over to it trying to climb in!!

Monday night we headed up to visit my cousin and her family for dinner. This was the boys meeting their second cousin, Lincoln, for the first time. It was so sweet how they all enjoyed each other so much. Lincoln is almost 15 months and was quite the charmer. Both boys LOVED spending time with her.

Christy flew into town Tuesday after Jason's surgery and we expected to leave town Wednesday morning. However, it's the government and it took a lot longer for Jason to be discharged than planned. So we spent Wednesday morning checking out more sites with Grandma Christy.

Here we are at the Lincoln Memorial. Very powerful.

We finally got out of town around 6pm headed for Ft. Bragg, NC. It was a long trip back but we made it.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
