Merry Christmas Eve...

Sorry I have been so bad at keeping up with the blog, but having Jason home has been so nice I haven't wanted to get online to post anything! Jason made it home safely on Saturday morning and we took off to get our Christmas tree. Jack was so excited to get it and then decorate it. We spent all day decorating and only managed to loose three ornaments. Two by Jack and one by Ethan. Not too bad!

I'm not sure if I've told everyone this yet but here are a couple of Ethan updates. About two weeks ago we were talking to Jason on the phone and I had given Ethan my cellphone (we were using the land line) and he put the phone to his ear and said, "Dada I, Dada I." He also kept saying mama all day, which was the first time I heard him say it more than once or twice.

He is getting up on his hands and feet a lot. He's not cruising along furniture unless his PT is working with him to do so but she said he might be one who stands first and then starts walking. Knowing Ethan, he will choose to do it the hard way. On Monday he got up on his hands and feet and then pushed up halfway and lifted his hands and stood (half bent) for a couple of seconds. So we know it's coming!

Here is Jason in his new Army issued glasses. He looks pretty good in them and he said it has greatly improved his distant vision.

The boys have been loving having Jason home (as have I) but I dread how hard it's going to be when he leaves after the New Year. Ethan has basically disowned me in favor of Daddy. I can't say I'm all that upset, it's been nice having a bit of a break from doing it all myself. And Jason is loving the roll of Daddy again.

We've got a busy holiday season and have been enjoying all the activities. Sunday we went to a birthday party for a boy in Jack's preschool that had become one of his best friends. A couple other kids from his class were there and it was fun to see Jack playing with them. He's growing up so fast!

We had a playdate with his friend Carson on Tuesday and he had so much fun I had to drag him home kicking and screaming -- even knowing Daddy was there to play with him wasn't enough to appease him.

Tonight we're heading over to Kim and Steve's (our old neighbors) for Christmas Eve and I'm so happy, as we have spent every Christmas Eve with them since we moved down here. They truely are our second family and the only drawback for moving to the new house was not having them as neighbors anymore. But we have some fantastic friends up here and we are making a nice life up here.

Christmas will be a quiet day at home with the boys playing with new toys and a couple of video calls with the grandparent's and aunts and uncles. Then we're planning on spending Boxing Day (December 26th) at our friends at the front of the neighborhood who have two girls close to the boys age. Jason and I will be celebrating having met 12 years ago that day so it will be nice to spend it with some friends!

Then on Sunday we have some old playgroup friends coming up for dinner and to play. And to cap off the holiday season we are hosting our annual Kid Friendly New Year's Eve party and should have quite a good turn out, between Jack's preschool friends, Ethan's DS friends and neighborhood friends! And of course I love to host parties, so it should be lots of fun.

These are the boys 2009 ornaments that I picked up in Seattle when I was there for Jason and Adele's wedding. Ethan's is the super baby, since he is really turning out to be one, and Jack's is the airplane since he is really into airplanes this year!

Jack loved decorating the tree this year (he actually did quite a bit of it) but you can tell where he put the ornaments -- they are all clustered together. No matter how many times we told him to space them out this was the end result!

On Sunday there was a show on the Discovery Channel about the Special Forces selection process that Jason went through, so we let Jack stay up late to watch it (it was from 8-10p). As you can see, neither Jack nor I could make it the whole way. I went without a nap that day and probably made it just over halfway through the show. Jack went just a little bit before me!

On Monday we will find out what sex this little wee one in my belly is. I can't believe that there will be three little ones sitting around the tree next year. I can't wait to meet this newest little addition to the family -- even though I know life will be very crazy for the next couple of years with Jason gone.

Merry Christmas and lots of love from the Cornwell's!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
