Halloween In ... Seattle????

Before we get into tonight's Halloween festivities, here are a few photos from the days leading up to it.

We made cupcakes for our playgroup Halloween party. While I still can't get Jack to try anything new, Ethan LOVED licking off the beaters.

While he didn't want to lick the beaters, Jack really enjoyed helping me make the cupcakes and then decorate them. I think he might become a chef -- he LOVES to watch cooking shows on TV!

Below is a photo of the boys in their Halloween costumes before we headed out to our party. Jack is a Power Ranger and Ethan is a pirate. I couldn't find the devil costume Jack wore when he was Ethan's age so I found a t-shirt that had a pirate pattern and then popped Jason's pirate hat on him. It didn't stay on long but at least I got a quick photo of him in it!

Here is the group of old friends from the playgroup. We've been doing this since Jack was 2 years old. It's fun to see them all grow up and change.

Below is them "trick-or-treating" to each of the mom's to get a goody bag.

Here is Jack with his loot from the party. He had so much fun going through all the bags to see what he got.

For Halloween, we started off the festivities at Publix (local grocery store) where the kids can trick or treat at locations around the store for candy. In the bakery they got to decorate their own cookie (above), in produce they did a ring toss and a basketball toss, in the seafood department they went fishing, and in the dairy section they bowled. Jack kept telling me that this was the best Halloween EVER.

For dinner I started up the tradition that my mom always did with us kids growing up, Halloween pumpkin burgers! I loved and looked forward to this every year. Hopefully my boys will do the same.

After enjoying dinner, we headed out to trick-or-treat. I felt like I was back in Seattle - it rained the whole time we were out there. This is the first time since we moved here 6 years ago that we had rain on Halloween. In fact, normally it's really warm and we walk around without jackets. Oh well....we still had fun!

We were supposed to go out with friends from the neighborhood but they had a last minute change of plans so it was just us. I was really proud of Jack for going up to each door and trick-or-treating by himself. And he said thank you to everyone!

Jack had so much fun, but we lost Ethan towards the end!

Here is Jack, talking to Daddy on the phone while checking out all the candy he got. He's now counting down the days until next Halloween!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
