Hot Weekend!

Summer finally hit Georgia! We were in the upper 80s on Saturday and in the 90s on Sunday and today.

Saturday we had Jack's T-ball team party, which was a BBQ at a park. Unfortunately, with our move, the park was about an hour away. But it was fun to see the team again and a PERFECT day for a special picnic. Sunny, warm, no humidity and a nice breeze. But I still managed to get a bit of a sunburn, which I then made worse by spending the afternoon at the pool!

The coach collected all the boys and told the what a great team they were and how much he enjoyed coaching them. He then went on to tell them how our last game was actually the championship game and that we won it! The parents got a good giggle but I don't think the boys really understood the joke.

Sunday we planned to hit the pool again, this time early, but instead we enjoyed a somewhat lazy day around the house. Jack and I got out early and planted four day lilies along the front walk to help bring a little color to the front of the house.

Jack found a ladybug on the gardening lap pad and got the biggest kick thinking he was helping us -- he was keeping us company!

Jack was a big help for me. I dug the holes and then we both filled them with the fertilizer. Then when we were done with all the planting, he watered them all. He is at such a fun age where he wants to help with everything, and now he is more of a help than a hindrance.

I think the end result turned out great. It will be nice to see it in a few years after they get fuller. Now I'm working on the back of the house, where I would like to put most of the plants and color, since that is what I look at the most!

Today (Monday) the boys and I made our first solo trip to the pool and it was a great success! I love having the zero entry pool where I can plop Ethan and myself down at the edge so he can splash, and then Jack can play around us, or up on the pool toy with the slides. This will make for a very fun summer.

While we were there we ran into our friends that live there who are also military (our husbands were in the same Guard unit until just recently) so we commiserated on having our hubbies gone (her's just got mobilized for deployment) at the same time while dealing with the kids and life. We made plans for a weekly dinner for us all to help take the pressure off and I can't tell you how happy I am to have someone down the street who is going through the same thing I am that fully understand what no one else really can.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i...

Busy week

It's been a busy week with little things here and there, which is getting me ready for the busy summer ahead of us with gymnastics, swimming and all Ethan's therapies. Whew, I need a break from just thinking about it. We did have a nice walk down to our community playground this afternoon. Ethan couldn't stop laughing on the swings and the slide (he couldn't get enough of the slide) and Jack made a little friend! Great afternoon. Speaking of therapies, Ethan starts his occupational therapy next week and I'm so excited. We got the therapy notes back from his evaluation and, while I'm not positive on how I'm reading it, the scores say from poor to very poor. We have been very lucky that Ethan hasn't had any medical issues and so far he seems to be doing well with responding to his therapies, so I really want to make sure he has the best of everything. Today has just made me a little blue thinking about Ethan not being 100% of what other kids are and ...
