Teeth

It's been a long day for us here. We're all feeling a little under the weather and Ethan is cutting his first two teeth!

I thought I had seen two little white spots on his top gums and kept trying to get him to laugh so I could keep looking and then today his speech therapist confirmed that she, too, felt some teeth coming in. Normally the bottom teeth come in first in kids, but Downs babies often times get their teeth in weird patterns, so I'm happy that at least he's getting the top two and not some back molars or something else first!

Jack is such a big help for me these days. This is him helping me to make some trail mix. He won't eat it, but he's all about helping me to make it. We did discover that he likes the candy Smarties. He got a bunch on Halloween and has been scarfing it down. He had about 3 packs one day and man when the sugar kicked in he was a wild child. We've since severely limited his intake.

Ethan is getting so close to crawling. He's pushing up on his knees and elbows and is rocking back and forth. He's not staying up too long but it's a big step for him and I expect he'll be crawling within the next couple of weeks. Then life will get a lot more exciting around here....

Maybe his Nana will be able to help him achieve crawling while at the beach! I'm hoping to convince you, Ellen, to post beach pictures everyday while we are on vacation together.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
