Ending the School Year

The last month of school is always so busy with school events and summer sports heating up. We started the month of May with Wyatt's field trip to the Indian Mounds.

While the boys had visited with Nana and Auntie Jake, I've never bee, so I really enjoyed it.

Wyatt and all his friends all had a good time too.

Wyatt remembered this "map" from his first visit and couldn't wait to see it again. I had to drag him away from it.

Then we got to celebrate Ethan earning a character trait award for Punctuality. This one makes me laugh as I think it should be me as mom who earns this award, as I would be the only reason his on time to anything. But all he cared about was hanging out with the Eagle.

Then Ethan had the track and field Special Olympics. While he much prefers the bowling in the winter, he seemed to enjoy himself.

Jack was on the Junior Swarm box lacrosse team this past winter and so with the end of the professional season, they invited all the kids to come have a practice at the stadium.

 It was fun to watch.

The stadium is on the other side of town and following the practice they had a game so we had to find something to do to kill an hour or two, since it wasn't enough time to go home and back. So we found a play park.

Then it was back to the game where Jack got to run through the tunnel with the Swarm team at the start of the game. It was so cool to see and experience.

You can see the back of Jack (with the white hat) just above the lady with the glasses.

In between all that we celebrated Wyatt's birthday.

 Had Jack's final band concert.

And had Ethan's field trip. It was so sweet to see him with his best friend from school.

 Mining for rocks.

 And hiking around.

We had two final lacrosse tournaments in May.
Here is Wyatt at faceoff.

 They had a great tournament.

The final tournament of the rec season.

Then I finally found someone to cut Ethan's hair.

He hated it but it looks so much better when it's short.

Then Jack had an end-of-year band party.

And then the start of summer lacrosse.

 It's exhausting.

Earlier in the school year Ethan won the PTA Reflections award for artwork and I had been trying to see his masterpiece for months - but no one had it. Then at the end of the year it finally came home with him. And he was so proud. As soon as he got off the bus he took it out of his backpack and showed it to Daddy.

One end of year class party for Wyatt.

The picture I had to force him to take with me.

And his best friends, Colin and Zachary (if those name sound familiar, it's because Jack has two best friends named Colin and Zac too - what are the odds???).

Then an award ceremony for Jack where he earned all A's honor roll and excellence in Advanced Social Studies. I'm so proud of Jack and all the hard work he put in his first year of middle school.

Then finally the end of the school year.

Good bye school year, hello summer!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
