Mama Needs A Break, Part 1

I've been blessed with a few really good friendships over the years but these ladies are at the top. We've known each other since middle school and high school and even though it's been 30+ years (cough, cough) we are still the best of friends and make an effort to have a Girl's Weekend every couple of years.

I love these girls!

This year we rented a house in Scottsdale, AZ and the bonus for me was a visit with my mother-in-law, who lives in Mesa.

The house was amazing!

But the best part was the pool in the backyard - perfect for an October weekend.

After a quick lie about, it was off to the store for supplies.

Brussels sprouts anyone?

This was how we spent every morning of our long weekend -- poolside with a cup of coffee, then a swim. Heaven.

We even got to experience a small dust storm.

It was kind of fun to watch it come in. Luckily, it came and went quickly.

Then it was off for a walk around the neighborhood to check things out.

We were perplexed by this Speed Table sign. Elsewhere in the neighborhood they were Speed Bumps but up front it was a table. We laughed every time we drove over them.

And there was quite an array of cactus.

We are girls who love to be silly with the camera.

We didn't leave the house except for supply runs and one day we drove up to Sedona, about two hours north of where we were staying.

It was so beautiful and definitely worth the drive.

We walked the downtown area and did some shopping, eating and then off for a Pink Jeep tour.

 There was artwork everywhere.

And artists capturing the stunning views.

 Silly girls again...

Time for a group grope.

Then it was time for our jeep tour.

Not our jeep, but we were in one just like it.

It was bumpy and jumpy but tons of fun and the views were amazing.

We had the jeep all to ourselves!

And then we got a chance to get out and walk to the edge of one of the cliffs.

Our awesome tour guide was so much fun and spent a lot of time taking pictures for us.

And then got creative and suggested a couple poses for us.

Which ended up being our favorites.

One last photo in front of our ride before heading back down.

That rock in the distance is where we stopped and got out.

Our ride back was just in time to catch an amazing sunset.

Then back to the house for more fun. This was the tree out in the front yard.

Chillin' before we pack up and head out.

The long weekend was not quite long enough and before we were ready it was time to say goodbye to my girls and fly home.

Until our next trip...

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
