Christmas Around the Cornwell's

I have always loved decorating for Christmas. My childhood Christmas's were always so magical that I want to make it as special for my kids as my mom did for me and my siblings.

My boys and I would like to welcome you into our little corner of the world to see our Christmas home.

I love adding to my decorations each year and changing it up a little here and there so it's similar but not exactly the same year after year.

I love finding decorations and then trying to find the perfect spot for them. Don't be afraid to move things - my decorations always seem to take a little tour around the house before finding the right home.

This year I added lanterns to the front porch. I saw someone else had decorated like this at their home - only they had all their lanterns the same, just different sizes.  I went a different route and went all different colors, sizes and styles - since I already had a couple in my house.

I'm pretty happy with the final look!

Our entryway look hasn't changed much but I'm happy with it. I love the burlap pennants my friend made for me -- I have them all over the house!!

A new addition to the decorations this year are these snowmen.  The boys LOVE them!!

I also added these cute Santa hat chair covers to our bar stools.

Here you see more pennants in our family/keeping room.
We spend the most amount of time in this room with the kids so I like to keep it fun.

I found some cute decorations that were big and tall so I found a big skinny bucket and used them on the side table in the formal living room.
And here is our formal living room mantel where we have the stockings.  I saw someone else use their tall Nutcrackers like this and loved it so I copied them, which is my biggest decorating tip - copy, copy, copy! It never looks exactly the same and you will probably change up the original look anyway.

It's funny how I use the same mantel decorations each year but always seem to change it up quite dramatically. I've been trying to be more sparse in my mantelpiece and I love how this turned out.

  A closer view.

 One side of the fireplace....

And the other.

This one never seems to change. I actually wanted to add some greenery down the banister but with our new puppy, Bandit, I didn't dare.

You will notice that we have no Christmas tree up and I think this might be the first year we don't put one up, but he is in his puppy phase and chewing EVERYTHING and getting into EVERYTHING that we don't dare. It's hard enough keeping him away from the kids toys and the cushions and things like that.

Our formal dining room hasn't changed much over the years either.

I love the hanging ornaments and the ornaments decorated like Santa that I had made a couple years ago. Decorating can be as simple as putting ornaments in a bowl.

The only thing different here is the addition of the Nutcrackers, which are all over the house. I love them and collect them. Jack, my oldest, loves them too and has been giving them to me as gifts the past couple of years!!

Thank you for stopping by and visiting.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Cornwell's!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
