A Halloween Visit From Granny

We haven't had Jason's mom out for a visit in several years so we were extra excited when she came over Halloween. It's always extra special for the boys to celebrate with extended family.
We had some really nice weather while she was in town (at least the first part of it) so we celebrated with a fire out in the backyard. The boys were excited to roast marshmallows and have s'mores!
Nana and Granddad are always really good about sending cards for the boys. However, we are not very good about opening them in a timely manner.
This year I tried to offer both candy and small toys as our treats.
Our traditional dinner has become Mummy Dogs -- hot dogs wrapped up in crescent rolls. This year both Jack and Wyatt helped me make them.
Then it was time to get into costumes and head out.  Jack was a werewolf while Wyatt and Ethan were the same characters as last year, a Power Ranger and Blue the dog from Blue's Clues.
Daddy and Granny took the boys out while I manned the front door. It was much cooler and wetter this year than normal but it didn't stop the boys from having fun.
Then it was back home to check out the loot.

 And help pass out candy.
Some people had far too much time on their hands!
I love these ideas but who has the time???

The boys loved having Granny around and spent lots of time playing with her.
Candy Land and War being the favorites!!
But the week went by way too fast. Hopefully it won't be long before she is able to move down here and be close all the time!  We love you Granny!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

My Week

Jason left last Saturday (the 4th) for his two week Army Annual Training and we sent him off with a nighttime treat before he left.  I love this photo of my boys, as they all look so happy and the small ones look so grown up - especially Ethan.  We couldn't pry that cup of frozen yogurt away from him!!  And, as usual, when Jason leaves all hell breaks loose.  Tuesday night we were all getting ready for bed and I was getting Ethan and Wyatt out of the bathtub when Wyatt slipped and banged his chin on the edge.  Normally Wyatt gets out first but this time I got Ethan and that just drove him crazy.  He was jumping up and down and as soon as I told him to stop he slipped.  I thought he had just cut his lip or his gums as I only saw blood but then he titled his head up and I saw his chin - too much of the inside of the chin.  I got him dried off, and kept a washcloth to his chin but knew I needed to get him to the ER.  But the last th...

Last Days of Summer Vacation

I'm back...it's been a crazy past few weeks but then what's new. We were dealing with tummy issues for the boys last week and after spending each cleaning up the messes all I could bring myself to do at night was lay on the couch! On top of that, I've been working out 3 days a week for an hour and a half at a time and that has been wearing me out. Oh, and I've started a new business selling Willow House so my free time has been limited. But I've been enjoying it and a happy mama makes for a happy family! Now we're enjoying our last day of summer vacation before Jack starts Pre-K tomorrow, which is the equivalent to what kindergarten was for me back in the day. Jack is excited to get back to school and see his friends and learn "big kid stuff," and I'm excited to get our routine started for the school year. Plus Daddy should be home on Thursday and that will help tremendously! I can't believe he's been gone almost two years. It wi...
