Memorial Day Weekend

Just a few simple Memorial Day decorations.

It's always fun to celebrate a holiday with a get together with friends, and we are blessed with some really great friends!!
These kids have so much fun together.
So do these kids!  Ha ha.
Good friends, good food - what could be better?
This is a seriously addictive Snickers Salad.  You have to make it when you can feed a crowd or cut the recipe in half because it doesn't hold up after the first day or so, but honestly, I could eat this until I got sick - it's THAT good!  You can find the recipe here:

I love a good salad and I've recently become a bit obsessed with orzo pasta.  Mmmm.
Anyway, I made this Orzo and Broccoli salad and it, too, was a hit.  Again, this is one that feeds a crowd (I sent some home with Kellie and ate off it for a week and still had to toss some).  I made a few adjustments (used mozzarella instead of feta cheese, eliminated the red pepper and used toasted almonds) but it was still really good.  Here's the recipe:

I think the funniest thing of the evening was watching Ethan and Ryder play together.  They were jumping from the boxes onto the couch and laughing hysterically. I really don't like the jumping on the furniture but I allow it here simply because it's so nice to see Ethan doing such a "typical kid" activity and he gets so much enjoyment out of it (plus it's probably pretty good for his OT).

Kellie was the star of the night by organizing a water balloon fight.
She placed bags of balloons all over the yard for the kids to run to and then attack with.

They LOVED it and it was so much fun to watch.
It was the perfect evening!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
