Mid-Fall Break Vacation

Or as I like to call it, our Waste-of-a-summer-vacation-week Break!
As much as I love having the boys home and not having to get up at the crack of dawn to get them ready for school, I would much prefer another week during the summer. I think it's far too disruptive to take a week off here and there.  But, since I'm not in charge of the school calendar, we decided to make the most of it!

The first weekend we spent Sunday afternoon up in Walker County at the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga.  We tried to watch from the fields below but we waited in a car line for about an hour and didn't move much so decided to turn around and check it out from this vantage point high above.  While it would have been great to see it up close I think with the boys this was a much better option.
It's hard to see but way down there in the middle of the field are soldiers battling it out.  You could see them moving around as well as hear the cannons (and see the smoke) but it would have been a bit more interesting to see it a bit closer up.
We made good use of the rest of our week break with a quick 4 day trip to Destin, FL.  The weather was perfect and we had a lot of fun playing on the beach and visiting with old friends.
We found this restaurant by the water that put in a little beach that the boys played on while waiting for dinner to show up.  I love all the great places we found to eat along the water.

Love this little "cheese" face from Ethan.
We started our first full day off with a boat trip.  Wyatt DID NOT want to go on the boat but we were able to convince him it would be okay.
They took us to a shallow spot to collect shells and hermit crabs.  Wyatt wouldn't get in the water at first so we sat on the boat while Jason took Jack and Ethan out to start collecting.
Eventually I was able to get Wyatt in the water, but then Ethan wanted back on the boat.

 That was fun!
Jack loved snorkeling too!  Wyatt liked it as well but I couldn't get a photo of him with his gear on. But trust me, it was CUTE!

When we were all back on board they had a hermit crab race.
It took a while to get them moving...
 but eventually our won!
 Good job Cornwell's!

We did spend plenty of time at the beach but because we had to cross the street to get there I never brought our camera with us.  Normally I would take photos and then take the camera back to our room so it wouldn't get sandy but it didn't work out this time, which is too bad because the boys LOVED the water this trip.  Wyatt boogie-boarded for the first time and did great.  Ethan enjoyed playing in the water for really the first time and Jack couldn't get enough time with Jason, or alone, in the water.
But no trip to the beach would be complete without a visit to the miniature golf course!
Ethan seemed to really get it this time, and enjoyed it at first.
But Wyatt had a hard time understanding that you didn't pick up the ball after you hit it.
Jack had fun, as always, and we decided this time to just play for fun and not worry about scores.
Afterward Jack and Jason did some water bumper cars.
The little ones were too little to ride but enjoyed watching.

Ethan wasn't feeling well and ended up falling asleep in my arms so Jack and Wyatt enjoyed a ride on a train.

A good time was had by all but it's always nice to come home.

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
