Happy 5th Birthday Ethan

I can't even wrap my head around the fact that Ethan is 5 years old!!  Where did the time go?
I look back to the day he was born and all the unknowns and I look at him now and wonder why I was so worried.  He is the perfect little guy for us and is doing amazingly well.
"They say it's your birthday...it's my birthday too, yeah!"
I always think of this song since Ethan and Granddad share a birthday.  And even though we haven't spent the day together since the first one, thanks to the computer, we always get a video chat in and can sing to one-another.
Ethan always gets overwhelmed at lots of presents to open (I wonder if that will change one day?) so we always end up opening gifts for several days.  We started early with the present from Granddad and Nana in the early afternoon so they could enjoy seeing him open their gift.
 Open, open, open.
 What's inside???
New puzzles and a book!
 Did someone say cake???
 Happy birthday to you!
 Make a wish...
 ...and blow out those candles.

 Yay, you did it!
Time to dig in - this kid loves his cake!

Wyatt is more about the frosting - but he had been waiting for weeks to eat birthday cake and sing Happy Birthday to Ethan - he'd been talking about it non-stop.
Jack has even progressed from not eating/liking cake to eating the frosting.

 Time for another gift...

A box of books - he just loves these little books and carries them around with him everywhere.
Jack picked out a gift for Ethan but he didn't really want to open it so Jack helped.
A felt board with felt pictures of the zoo.
The Sunday of his birthday weekend we met up with some friends at a play place called Catch Air.  It was a huge play area with bouncy houses, slides, mazes, balls, a light-up dance floor and more.

The kids had so much fun!

After about three hours all three of them asked to go home.
But they sure had fun!!
Happy Birthday my sweet boy.  I love you.
XOXO

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...

Master Closet Overhaul

We have this ridiculously large walk-in closet in our master bedroom and over time it has been overtaken with STUFF. So I decided I was tired of looking at the mess and it was time to clean it out and up.  Take a look...  I can't believe it went from this... To this!  I love walking in here now and actually find myself looking for reasons to go into my closet.  Along with just weeding out old clothes and items I no longer wore or needed (you should see the pile of stuff that was donated!) I made some changes to the room too.   One of them was my shoe racks. I've long wanted a tall shoe rack to go alongside the built in shelves but I knew it would never get off my husband's to-do list so I took matters into my own hands!!  It's not exactly what I had envisioned but it works and I'm happy with it. Thanks Target for the shelves.  Over the past few years I have developed a deep love for scarves and now own several....
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...
