Let's Play Ball

The weekend kicked off with the start of baseball season! And to celebrate, Jack danced around the house in his undies -- just take those old records off the shelf -- a la Risky Business!

Ethan has been doing really great too. He's pushing himself to a sitting position by himself now - all the time! I put him in his crib and the next thing I know he's sitting up. It's great that he can now crawl around and push himself up when he wants. Before you know it he'll be chasing after Jack!

Saturday morning was a very early (and long) morning. We had to be at the ball field by 8:15a for the opening festivities. It was mostly standing around waiting until each team got to parade around the field and have their name called out. Jack was cold and tired to start so it was a bit long, but he warmed up eventually.

A view of all the teams gathering.
Most of Jack's team -- Go Bulldogs!

We were done with the opening ceremony by 9am so we had to kill some time (I worked the concession stand from 9:30 - 11:30a when Jack's game started) and it was a bit drizzily (before turning into a 75 degree day) so we popped the tail of The Beast, folded down the seats and had a bit of a picnic.

Let's play ball!
Go get it
Batter up!

Jack had a lot of fun playing and seemed to understand what to do, although his first time around, he missed home base and went back to first!

It's so much fun to watch Ethan play these days, now that he's doing so much. Here he's playing with the newspaper. Forget the expensive kids toys, the Sunday paper entertains for hours!

Where's Ethan? Peek-a-boo!

As you all know, Jack LOVES to help me with special projects. Today I was cleaning off the dining table and he helped me dust. I left the room and came back to find him on the table cleaning every inch of it! He cracks me up!!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was

The Olympics

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've last posted a message. I guess it's been due to a combination of being really busy and not having much to say! Is that a contradiction? We've been letting Jack stay up late since Friday so that he could enjoy the Olympics. He really enjoyed the opening ceremony and has been in awe of the gymnastics. We went to a BBQ on Sunday night and just as we were getting ready to leave they put the ladies gymnastics on and all the kids say and watched. We had to drag Jack away. In other news, we're getting ready to do a really crazy thing. After only two months of having no debt and house payment, we're putting in an offer on a new home! We really had no plans to do this, but when we went to visit our friends on Sunday, we decided to drive around and look at the houses there. We had looked in there back before Ethan was born and fell in love with the place so we thought we'd just take a look and see how much i

Last Day in Prague

Our last full day in Prague. We had a late night parting the night before and a very early morning excursion but this was the one I was excited for! We did a similar excursion in Italy and loved it too. This was an awesome city bike tour to the Vysehrad Castle. We stopped for photo ops along the way - including here along the Charles River. But it's all fun and games until someone gets stopped by the Polizia! Before we left on our trip I was told to make sure you stay away from the police, so I was surprised to come up the big steep hill to see Jason stopped by one. I guess our tour guides didn't get the permit to ride in the park (too close to kids and a school). We had all just come up a big steep hill and were separated from the front of our group. Jason stopped to wait for me and the rest of the group to make sure we knew where to go. We had three guides, on leading, one in the middle who pulled away from Jason, and then one at the back.
