Mamma Gets A Break

I feel so fortunate to have such good friends both here locally and back home in Seattle. These girls and I have been best of friends since middle and high school and it means everything to be able to take off for a few days and spend some good quality time with them.

In April I flew out to meet them in Los Angeles and then take a four day cruise around California and Mexico.

Friends for so long that we are now family!

Coleen found these awesome necklaces for us all.

So touching and true!

We flew out a day earlier than the cruise departure so we could get just one extra day together in LA.

So of course we enjoyed some drinks, food and laughter.

This was the amazing view from our hotel room. I miss the ocean so much (but am thankful to live close to a big lake so I get a water view often).

Then it was time to board the ship and enjoy some sea days!

 Let's set sail.

Michelle introduced us to this gorgeous and delicious drink, the Kir Royale.

Enjoying our first night on board.

I love the grand staircases on ships.

The best picture we got of us all together by the ship's photographer.

This picture is the best representation of us - always laughing and having fun.

The beautiful sunsets helped make us look youthful.

Gorgeous!

Our first day was a ship day and it was REALLY choppy waters.

We enjoyed drinks every night before dinner on our balcony.

Our first stop was a day in Santa Barbara. We opted to take the trolley tour through the city and up to the Old Mission Santa Barbara.

Michelle and I had fun reminiscing about the road trip we took together back in the mid 1990's when we were roomies. We drove to Palm Springs for a few days and then came home along the coast, stopping at the Mission on our way.

It was such a beautiful day.

The rose garden was filled with so many gorgeous flowers.

After walking around the Mission for a bit we hopped back on the trolley for the ride back into town where we got dropped off in the center of the shopping district.

We grabbed a coffee and then started walking back toward the water towards the winery district.

We were excited about this part of our trip!!

I think this about says is all.

At this first winery we got to try several different types of wine in our keepsake glasses.

 Cheers ladies!!

Then it was on to our next stop...

We fully enjoyed our wine excursions.

Then back to the pier for lunch before heading back to the tender to get back to the ship.

Back on board for the sail away!

It was so nice to relax and have fun with these girls.

Last port of call was Ensenada, Mexico.

We popped off the ship long enough to do a little window shopping and stop for a drink.

Then back on board for another margarita.

Look at the size of that thing!

 One last night together...

Then it was time to head home.

Happy faces even though we were sad to leave.

Janine stayed a few extra days in LA with her family but Coleen, Michelle and I headed to the airport to board our flights. And, as luck would have it, even though we were going in opposite directions, our gates were right next door to each other. So one final good-bye photo.

Until next time ladies!

Having a Great Visit with Aunt Delly

I know it's been a VERY long time since I've last posted, but it's hard when you have company in town. Plus, I've been especially exhausted this past week. Jack get's so excited when we have visitors that he gets even crazier than normal! September should be fun when we have Daddy, Granny and Grandma in town. I've been continuously changing up our great room bookshelves, so I thought I would post a photo for you to see. If anyone has more ideas on how to make it look better, let me know. These are some pictures of Jack at gymnastics. He has gotten so much better at this club. They do a lot more strengthening stuff than the old place. Plus they have an older boys class so they don't just teach girly stuff at this age. It's been fun to see him do so well. Of course, a lot of time he still goofs around, trying to fall off stuff, but for the most part he's pretty good at staying on task. Last week they did the monkey bars and he LOVED it and was...
We have traveled around the SE for lacrosse tournaments in the past but this year we had the opportunity to travel to Denver, CO for one. I think it was one of my favorite. We tried to make it a family vacation as well, so we traveled in early the day before and spent some time exploring.  We headed down to Rock Park in Castle Rock and did a little hiking.  See that big rock in the background? Yup, the boys climbed all the way to the top. Ethan and I made it to the base of the rock while Jason, Jack and Wyatt climbed up top.  Ethan and I messing around waiting on the other boys.  Photos of the boys up top.  Our first game was an evening game, so we had most of the day to explore and get used to the altitude (which definitely got to the boys once they got on the field). The fun part of having good friends on the same lacrosse team is you get to explore together. We all drove up to Red Rocks to expl...

Summer is Lacrosse

This summer was especially busy for us as Jack played on TWO travel lacrosse teams and Wyatt played his first year on one. We only had one weekend where Jason and Wyatt headed off to Nashville, TN while Jack, Ethan and I stayed here for each of their tournaments.  This was Wyatt's oh-so-happy-to-get-his-photo-taken face before they headed out to Nashville. I just loved the shirt!!  This was the set up we had for Jack's tournament in town. Ethan was happy as a clam with shade and his iPad!!  Jack had a phenomenal first tournament and was directly responsible for almost all the teams goals. He looked awesome and he joked it was because his annoying youngest brother wasn't around. Boys!  Just a few shots of Jack playing.  Summer also means supporting our local professional field lacrosse team, The Atlanta Blaze. Jack and his buddy Zac had the privilege of working with the team's head coach through the local youth Thund...
